HAPPY HOLIDAYS!Timeless Christmas Carols

Today is December 8,2009 and It's the "FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION". After hearing mass today and hearing those Christmas Carols during mass and at the shopping malls recently, I realized that Christmas Spirit is in the air and the "Simbang Gabi" or "Misa De Gallo" would start next week. Btw, I just ate Puto Bumbong and Bibingka after the mass. KABAYANS, I guess with the recent tremendous political anxiety happening around our country, we still have to continue the PINOY CHRISTMAS SPIRIT okay. So may I present you a Christmas CD entitled "HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Timeless Christmas Carols" sang by RAY MONTGOMERY SINGERS which will brighten up your Yuletide Season. YUP!! Christmas Decorations, Lights, and anything associated with Christmas is all over the metropolis already reminding us of the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th. So to celebrate it, I'm featuring these great tunes for you regular visitors of my little blog "The Doctor Is In" . Well, this would be my 3rd Christmas in the blogosphere which started wayback Christmas 2007, then going to 2008, and now 2009, then 2010 to 2011 and 12/2012....and more years hopefully. Wheeew!! That "2012" movie is really scary don't you think? Time flies so fast indeed and you just don't know what hit you. I just wanna thank all of you guys who visits my blog and especially those who have supported it for the past years. CHRISTMAS is in the air so let's sing these tunes!!

"HAPPY HOLIDAYS! : Timeless Christmas Carols" contains 10 tracks wherein 5 tracks are in Medley format and the other 5 tracks are single song tracks which will really remind you of the songs usually being played on radio or even the shopping malls and even the famous carnivals here in the Philippines. Speaking of carnivals, I just remembered the Legendary "BIG BANG SA ALABANG" and "PAYANIG SA PASIG" which were both very famous during Christmas Seasons here in MANILA back in the mid to late 80s. Wheeew!! I guess, that's the good old days of the Giant Slide which I think was about 20 storeys high and was the main attraction back then. Wow!! MEMORIES INDEED!! Well, the CD content are Traditional Foreign Christmas Carols that I think all of you are also familiar too. This Christmas CD is distributed by VICOR MUSIC CORPORATION via PEAK MUSIC and if you're interested to have a copy then I uploaded my entire CD for you to enjoy the music of classic Christmas Carols here on my little blog. Songs like "O HOLY NIGHT", "WINTER WONDERLAND", "DECK THE HALLS", and "HARK THE ANGELS" are some of the Christmas carols that will make you sing while listening to the entire CD. The song "LITTLE DRUMMER BOY" which I made a blogpost three months ago is also included here. Well, I didn't anymore include the TRACKLIST here in my blogpost since I know that you're very familiar with all the songs here. As the title itself says.... It's Timeless Christmas Carols. I uploaded two of my favorite Christmas Medleys in the CD for you to listen to. I do hope you'll enjoy listening to these songs!! Nothing beats the PINOY CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION how simple it may be to different families, the spirit is really alive. Of course It's really nice listening to these classic tunes.THANKS AGAIN for dropping by!! Just ENJOY THE MUZIC!! PASKO NA KABAYANS!! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC

NEW WAVE/ POST-PUNK/ PUNK ROCK were considered very influencial musical genres in the underground here in MANILA back in the 80s. There were basically three major radio stations that spread these kind of genres like a fire in the sky. I'm talking about WXB102, POWER 105 DZBMFM, and NU107. Though 99.5RT has also It's share to the success of this kind of music, PINOY NEW WAVERS/PUNKS have still considered XB, BM, and NU as those that really opened up the musical tastes of the youngsters back then regarding this musical genre. The year 1987 was a memorable year on MANILA's FM Dial and I made a special blogpost entitled "1987" before so do check it out for those who haven't read it. So why am I talking about 1987? Well, this was the year that WEA RECORDS and WARNER BROTHERS released this PHILIPPINE New Wave Vinyl Compilation Album entitled "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC". YUP!! PINOY NEW WAVERS/PUNKS would definitely remember this great Philippine Compilation which was made into THREE VOLUMES. KABAYANS, "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC" is finally here on "The Doctor Is In". Personally, I still consider these series as the BEST PHILIPPINE VINYL NEW WAVE COMPILATION SERIES ever conceptualized back in the 80s here in my country. This part of the WORLD and specifically this part of ASIA. Definitely, PINOY NEW WAVERS should have this set on their collection whether it be the complete Triple Volume Series or just any of the three just to be reminded that there did come a time that "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC" invaded MANILA.

I was lucky to be able to complete the set because I still consider it the best New Wave Compilation Vinyl series to be pressed here in the Philippines back in the 80s. When I saw the very first volume on the record bar back in 1987, I didn't hesitate to buy it at once because the compilation cover blew me off and the tracklist was indeed a winner.

The first "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC" compilation contains TEN GREAT BANDS with TEN GREAT TRACKS that would satisfy any PINOY WAVER'S cravings back then. This was released few weeks after WXB102 bid farewell on MANILA's FM Dial back in JUNE 1987. MEMORIES INDEED!! The highlight of "THE BEST OF MUSIC" was It's content and how It shaped up the landscape of NEW WAVE MUSIC here in MANILA back then. Usually the term "NEW MUSIC" back in the 80s here in MANILA was used to describe "NEW WAVE MUSIC" as It was used also on the two classic Philippine New Wave Vinyl Compilations that I have featured here in my little blog wayback 2007 namely "It's Called New Music" and "New Music, Perfect Rhythm". Well, for those who haven't read my corresponding blogposts on these two Philippine New Wave Vinyl Compilations just check out my LABELS(Information Society) on the middle right corner of my blog. The price catch on this Vinyl would be THE CHAMELEONS U.K. 's XB classic "TEARS". This set also includes nine more songs from nine artists on the genre that made it big on NU107 and POWER105 DZBMFM since WXB102 already disappeared on the airwaves when this was locally released. YUP!! TEN SONGS from TEN ARTISTS!! The compilation includes music from AZTEC CAMERA, JESUS & MARY CHAIN, ALPHAVILLE, LONE JUSTICE, WEATHER PROPHETS, PRIMAL SCREAM, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, SISTERS OF MERCY, and CHARM SCHOOL. Definitely one great NEW WAVE compilation for PINOY WAVERS to remember the good old days. The Cover Design which was very impressive was created by Ella Chico. What can I say? It's perfect!!

Here are the photos of some of the Artists/Bands:

Due to the success of the "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC", WEA RECORDS and WARNER BROTHERS decided to release "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC 2" the following year 1988 and the line-up was as impressive and great as the first one. Of course, I also bought the Vinyl Record at once when I saw It available on the record bars back in 1988. I love the compilation that after a month I bought the cassette tape version of It so that I can listen to it on my SONY WALKMAN. He He He!! "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC 2" this time has more Artists and Songs in the Tracklist. YUP!! It's TWELVE SONGS from TWELVE ARTISTS!! Most of the songs here were not played on WXB102 except PROPANGANDA's version of "FEMME FATALE" which incidentally was a favorite on MORNING MAN'S REQUEST ROUND-UP back in 1987. I even remember the song making it to the Legendary WXB102 TOP TEN MOST SEQUESTERED SONGS also back in 1987. Wheeew!! MEMORIES INDEED!! Majority of the songs were made popular by both NU107 and POWER105 since 1988 was the year that these two Philippine New Wave Radio Stations were on It's peak of FM competition if you're talking about the PINOY Music enthusiasts back then regarding the genre called NEW WAVE. I have to say that the price catch of this Vinyl Compilation would be WHITE CHINA's "SMILES AND JOKES" which was considered a POWER 105 EXCLUSIVE and so with the release of this compilation finally PINOY WAVERS could have a true original copy of the song on their respective collections back in 1988. PINOY WAVERS wouldn't forget music here from THE WILD SWANS, THE SCREAMING BLUE MESSIAHS, 10,000 MANIACS, MARTINI RANCH, UNDERWORLD, FUZZ BOX, and THE PAINTED WORD wherein all of these bands were introduced by both POWER105 and NU107. Of course, this compilation also includes some WXB102 bands like THE ADVENTURES, THE SISTERS OF MERCY, and THE SOUND even though their respective songs in this compilation were not played on WXB102 as I have mentioned a while ago. So what do you think KABAYANS? Nice line-up right? This time the Sleeve Design was created by Matt Joson which has a resemblance from the first volume wherein the main difference was that the Front Cover this time has also the Artist names and songs included in the compilation. The cassette tape version have a different packaging because It included a folded inner/outer sleeve that contained photos of all Ten Artists which were featured in this classic New Wave Philippine compilation as you can see on the cassette tape photos I included here in my blogpost.

Well, to end up the successful Decade of the Eighties, "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC Volume Three" was released late 1989. Like It's two predecessors, this Vinyl Compilation has another impressive line-up of Artists and Songs from the NEW WAVE GENRE with PINOY FLAVOR and It's back again to 10 Artists/Songs. There are two songs here which were considered "102 Music" and they were "I Wanna Be Sedated" by RAMONES and "The Bridge" by CACTUS WORLD NEWS which incidentally was the only CACTUS WORLD NEWS material that was released in Vinyl here in the Philippines. YUP!! PINOY WAVERS back in the 80s have to get their CACTUS WORLD NEWS materials as import back then. The rest of the TRACKLIST made it big on both POWER105 and NU107 and these were music from THREE O' CLOCK, BOOK OF LOVE, TANITA TIKARAM, THE SOUP DRAGONS, FIGURES ON A BEACH, GRACEPOOL, JAMES, PM, and another song from ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN which is "Lips Like Sugar" since Volume One contains their song entitled "The Game". Definitely another PINOY NEW WAVER Blockbuster!! This is indeed a cherished compilation that will be remembered. This time, the cover and sleeve was designed by both Ella Chico (Volume One) and Matt Joson (Volume Two) which brought to a close the decade of the 80s here in MANILA. Hmmmp!! Join forces for the sleeve design I may say!! The cover which stated "Musique Nouveau Par Excellence" definitely describe the real score for this last of the series. The cover is also a collage of magazine clippings that gave some bits of infos regarding the bands and some songs which were featured here on Volume Three.

Well, I do hope you guys and especially my KABABAYANS enjoyed another trip down memory lane with this blogpost of mine to remember NEW WAVE at It's finest here in MANILA back in the 80s. That was indeed the good old days of XB, BM, and NU which opened the musical taste for Filipinos in one of the most memorable decade.... "The 80s!!". Why am I buying these Philippine Pressed Vinyl compilations and featuring it here on my little blog? Well, my simple answer would be "It was Conceptualized and MADE IN THE PHILIPPINES"!! YUP!! It's PROUDLY PHILIPPINE MADE!! Hopefully in my free time, I'll feature all of the bands in these compilations in the future. I was just lucky to have completed the entire series coming from my pocket on my saved allowances during those times. He He He!! Those were the days indeed!! Nice to recall and remember!! THANKS again for dropping by "The Doctor Is In"!! That's just my fondest memories on these great series!! It's the Philippine Released New Wave Vinyl Compilations entitled "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC", "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC 2", and "THE BEST OF NEW MUSIC Volume Three". It's another "THE BEST OF THE GREATEST!!" I hope you liked it!!

This is indeed

PACQUIAO- Greatest Fighter of the era!!

It's a joyful day and a splendid CHRISTMAS SEASON for Filipinos because the one and only MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO also known here in the Philippines as "Pambansang Kamao" did it again by beating Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico via a 12th round TKO of their boxing match dubbed as "FIRE POWER" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend November 14, 2009. YUP!! It's a triumphant day indeed in the whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY!! CONGRATULATIONS KABAYAN MANNY PACQUIAO!! You made us PINOYS very proud indeed. The referee stopped the fight in the 55th second of the 12th and final round and PACMAN became the new Welterweight Champion of the World. Well, that was a good fight and it placed an exclamation point that our KABAYAN MANNY is really the Greatest Pound For Pound Boxer of the World. The entire nation was really praying hard that MANNY would win this fight and definitely the prayers were answered and of course MANNY did a great job doing his own thing on the ring smashing COTTO. Wheeew!! I just remembered that Shampoo Commercial of MANNY that emphasized on removing COTTO in the hair. He He He!! All have been said and done regarding the fight and so no need to elaborate on the specifics and let's just leave it to the boxing experts. One thing is certain "MANNY PACQUIAO is the GREATEST FIGHTER OF THE ERA" as his trainor FREDDIE ROACH have said on the post-fight conference. I made also two special blogposts on MANNY's victories over OSCAR DELA HOYA and RICKY HATTON before here on my little blog "The Doctor Is In" so just check it on the Label "SPORTS" if you havent read it yet. It's just sad that Z "The Dream"Gorres, another Filipino Champion who just won his bout recently against Luis Melendez, is in Critical Condition and is now in a Medically-Induced Coma. The whole FILIPINO community is praying for the recovery of Gorres. I guess with this PACMAN victory, a PACQUIAO- MAYWEATHER will be the real event come 2010 if it would push thru. Hmmmp!! That would definitely be another blockbuster since the crowd on the arena was chanting also "WE WANT FLOYD!!". After the fight, MANNY has humble words for himself which I greatly admire with this great Filipino Boxer. You made us all VERY PROUD TO BE FILIPINOS MANNY!! MABUHAY KA!! The Best Of The Greatest!!

DJ Joven Wave Addiction Promo Mix

Two months ago, I asked DJ JOVEN of Mix Ministry if he can share again a NEW WAVE MIX here in my blog. I've intended it to be a sort of a PROMOTIONAL MIX for their "Mix Ministry Live Party" which they have organized on the First Week of October 2009 since according to fellow Mix Ministry DJ "workshy", DJ Joven will spin out the New Wave portion of that said party. But due to the typhoons that had hit the Philippines that time, their party was canceled and re-scheduled for further notice and I haven't also been active blogging back then due to some relief operations for our Kababayans. So finally, here's the Music Mix that I'm talking about. Well, better late than never guys. This is also my opportunity to greet DJ Joven a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and so I hope you guys will like this trip again down memory lane with some good vibes New Wave Mixes courtesy of the Birthday Boy himself. DANCETRAX

DANCE TRAX is a Vinyl Record Compilation of some of DJ JON TUPAZ Mixes. YUP!! We have already featured DJ JON TUPAZ last September 21, 2009 that included an Archived New Wave Mix from this great Deejay here in my blog before. Here's "The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way" again of featuring the works of DJ JON TUPAZ, who is still considered as one of the hottest DJs here in MANILA. DANCE TRAX was conceptualized wayback 1992 by DJ JON TUPAZ, ROBBIE LOPEZ, and LAWRENCE CORDERO of SONOROUS MOBILE(Another Manila Legendary Mobile). Their sound engineer was MARK GOROSPE. This was released back in 1993 when HOUSE MUSIC was already being introduced in the music scene here in MANILA. As a Deejay, JON TUPAZ has a dream of releasing his works on Vinyl Record for other DJs to be played and used either locally or internationally. It just started as having a fun and light conversation between JON, ROBBIE and LAWRENCE which ended up being serious in thinking of producing and releasing a compilation Vinyl. The group's main ambition was to release their own Vinyl Compilation of Mixes back then . True enough their dream came into reality. A great motivation I may say!! Lawrence Cordero had to even asked permission from the original producers of the music for this vinyl release of compilation of remixes which were done by DJ JON TUPAZ himself. Well, according to JON,this was supposed to be in series format that would go from VOLUMES 1 to 4. Unfortunately, due to the incoming trend of Vestax and Denon CD Mixer wherein people were already favoring the CD format more than the VINYL, the others weren’t released anymore.

DANCE TRAX Vinyl Record

I uploaded the entire compilation for you to LISTEN and DOWNLOAD. Of course, THANKS to DJ JON TUPAZ for sharing the whole compilation here in my blog that always believe in ORIGINALITY. The Compilation Cover was inspired to be a caricature of the "LIFE OF A DJ" done LARRY ALCALA style. Btw, the late Lauro Zarate aka. Larry Alcala was a well-known illustrator and editorial cartoonist here in the PHILIPPINES who passed away back in 2002. According to JON, It was not that HITECH back then and he only used 1 6track Fostex audio mixer, 1 Technics mark, 2 Turntables, and 1 Numark 1975 digital sampler in making this classic mix during those times. This is just another trip down memory lane for you guys who loves music. I really love listening to ALL FOUR DJ JON TUPAZ Track Mixes from TOAD THE WET SPROCKETS, FORREST and two former MANILA visitors namely SYBIL and ANDREW GOLD. I hope you'll like it too the way I did. Great mix of musical genres that will travel you back to the 80s. So start DANCING to DANCE TRAX to remember those party days. Btw, you could also hear the "pops" on each music file which will remind you that this was indeed pure Vinyl music mix.

DJ JON TUPAZ would like to give credit to Robbie, Lawrence, and Mark for their great contribution in fulfilling his dreams of releasing a Vinyl Record of his Mixes. Personally, I would like to THANK both DJ JON and Miss PEACHY for helping me out in featuring this "DANCE TRAX" compilation here in my little blog "The Doctor Is In".
