Treat Your Mother Right!!

Today MAY 9, 2010 is MOTHER'S DAY!! Yup!! That's one week after that very successful TEARS FOR FEARS CONCERT here in MANILA which I was able to watch and one day before the very first automated Philippine Presidential Election which is tomorrow. I wonder why Roland and Curt didn't perform "MOTHER'S TALK" on their concert? It would have been a perfect Mother's Day gift for all the Moms who watched them perform "LIVE". Generally, the TEARS FOR FEARS concert here in MANILA was great!! So to all the Mom's "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY"!!

I'll leave you with this Music Video coming from Laurence Tureaud aka. MR.T who was very popular back in the 80s as ROCKY's(Sylvester Stallone) foe on "ROCKY III" and of course as Sergeant Bosco "B.A." Baracus on the 80s Legendary TV show "The A-Team" which incidentally is being revive for the big screen and It will be shown within the year so do watch out for the New Generation of "THE A-TEAM". So here's "TREAT YOUR MOTHER RIGHT" from MR. T which also became a hit here in MANILA back in the 80s. Well, I find this song and video cool so ENJOY!! Very funny too since I just can't believe it that he did this considering his persona back then. He He He!!

WATCH "TREAT YOUR MOTHER RIGHT"
by MR. T. HERE:

TREAT YOUR MOTHER RIGHT
Written by Ice T. and Sang By Mr. T.

FEMALE CHORUS: (x2)

Treat her right
Treat your mother right
Treat her right
Treat her right

MR. T's CHORUS:

Mother
There is no other
Like Mother
So treat Her right
Mother
I always Love Her
My Mother
So treat Her right, treat Her right

M- is for the moan, and the miserable groan
from the pain that She felt when I was born

O- is for the oven with it's burnin' heat
where She stood makin' sure I had something to eat

T- is for the time that She stayed up at night
and took my temperature when I wasn't feelin' right

H- is for the hard earned money She spent
to keep clothes on my back and try to pay da' rent

E- is every wrinkle I put on Her face
and every worry that I caused when I stayed out late

The last letter R is that She taught me Respect
and for the room up in Heaven that I know She'll get

MR. T Chorus

Female Chorus

She's a Queen
Second to none
Take care of Mother
You only get one

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 2010!!

DJ Joven Wave Addiction Promo Mix

Two months ago, I asked DJ JOVEN of Mix Ministry if he can share again a NEW WAVE MIX here in my blog. I've intended it to be a sort of a PROMOTIONAL MIX for their "Mix Ministry Live Party" which they have organized on the First Week of October 2009 since according to fellow Mix Ministry DJ "workshy", DJ Joven will spin out the New Wave portion of that said party. But due to the typhoons that had hit the Philippines that time, their party was canceled and re-scheduled for further notice and I haven't also been active blogging back then due to some relief operations for our Kababayans. So finally, here's the Music Mix that I'm talking about. Well, better late than never guys. This is also my opportunity to greet DJ Joven a HAPPY BIRTHDAY and so I hope you guys will like this trip again down memory lane with some good vibes New Wave Mixes courtesy of the Birthday Boy himself. THANKS guys for dropping by my little blog "The Doctor Is In"!! ENJOY THE MUZIC MIX!!

Jay "deejayyaj" Laforteza's WIP MIX

I guess we are just flooding this little blog of mine with a lot of REAL PINOY 80s NEW WAVE MIXES again since "The Doctor Is In" is still the FIRST and ORIGINAL and a sort of CATALYST to these things in the Blogosphere showcasing "The Best Of Pinoy New Wave Mixes". This time I'm PROUD to present you one of the DJs who mixes on "THE VAULT" none other than DJ Jay Laforteza aka. "deejayyaj" !! YUP!! I'm here to give you again another MIX SET coming from this great guy who has the love and passion to mix music especially NEW WAVE. According to DJ Jay, his musical influences comes from New Wave, Cold Wave, Dark Wave, Synthpop, Britpop, Post Punk, Punk, Punk Rock, Glam Rock... All genres from the 80s and also the 90s. But most of the time It's 80s, New Wave and House. He also like the 90s RnB era which he termed “pang tweatams”. Hmmmp!! Can it be "pa-cute effect"? He He He!! DJ Jay Laforteza learned mixing music way back 1985 at Discontrol Manila which was one of the first and finest mobile disco back in the 80s and he started mixing music LIVE in mobile parties back in 1989 . His first mobile was MUSIC TONE SOUND back in 1989 and then he joined Straight Edge Mobile in 1990 and QMS Mobile in 1991 with Dindo Lopez ( not Snoog....just the same name) of Cardinal Audio. His first step in DISCO DJs booth was 1991 at Spirits Discotheque. They played several times in radio stations with 80s and 90s music. Right now, he also shares his mixes on "THE VAULT" which is an Obscure Music Internet Radio headed by our good friend Benjie"The Wonder"Collantes.

So here goes Jay "deejayyaj" Laforteza's WIP MIX:

In A Chamber ......In A Chamber.....Hello..Hello..Hello started this cool mix that brings down the house loud. An XB classic from WIRE TRAIN that's also a favorite PINOY Slam Dance song back then. This was followed by last year's MANILA Visitor REAL LIFE with their classic POWER 105 EXCLUSIVE in "Always". Then we gonna "Crash" with THE PRIMITIVES. The beat is geting faster as we progress while singing Sometimes A Fantasy which was considered also a Party Anthem here in MANILA back then. As the party animals would sing on the beat in the dance floor. "It's just a fantasy..oooh ho hoo hooo .....It's not the real thing....oooh..ho hoo..hooo". Definitely, this MIX is the real thing. Whoooa!! Well, that's Head Over Heels and we Just Got Lucky that We Got The Beat of Deejayyaj here on "The Doctor Is In". I Got The Message and really enjoyed listening to this 80s Wave Mixset and I hope you guys did too. This isn't a Duel okay? Never You Done That? Hmmmp!! We are just remembering the good old days!! DJ Rhom's Desert Wave Megamixx

Hello everyone!! I'm back again with another PINOY NEW WAVE MIX here just for you regular visitors and lurkers of my humble blog. YUP!! This time It's from KABAYAN DJ Rhom and definitely this is another treat for you guys on the BLOG that started it all.....where else but here on "The Doctor Is In". PINOY NEW WAVE MIXES at It's best!! The Original okay!! DJ Rhom actually submitted this New Wave Mix very late due to his busy schedule but I wanna still THANK him for making time and It's a masterpiece for you guys to relive the decade of the 80s again. It's "DJ Rhom's DESERT WAVE MEGAMIXX" since he is now based in DUBAI, U.A.E. He started this passion of mixing music using two cassette tapes then his father gave him a 4channel DJ Mixer which made it more interesting for him. He then started mixing on CD and cassette then his friend asked him to DJ in his small mobile which opened a new horizon for him. He then became a DJ and Technician in 1995 to 2000 on both Visual Frequency and Extreme Sound which he his a part owner. He also became a technician in RSL Light and Sound of Lupe (DJ OUCH of DMZ). His parents encouraged him to continue learning and practicing mixing and gave him lots of comfort and confidence that he needed when joining in any DJ competitions back then. He named the late Francis M ("The Mouth" on 89DMZ), DJ Kimozave, DJ Qbert and DJ Mod as his idols because they helped him also continue this hobby of his which is mixing music. He loves listening to Hip Hop, 80’s 90’s music and also NEW WAVE which is the theme of the Music Mix that we will be featuring. I uploaded the Mix on both 4-shared(Listening mode) and DivShare(Download Link).

So guys, get ready to be blasted again back into time where NEW WAVE MUSIC was at It's best!! Here's "DJ Rhom's Desert Wave Megamixx"!!

The NEW WAVE Mix started with a great informative INTRO regarding the VIETNAM WAR by Peter Thomas. Wheeew!! Is this related somewhat to THE DESERT STORM? He He He!! It's an hour of great NEW WAVE VIBES for us to recall and very creative indeed I may say. Lite and Easy songs like "Somebody","Don't Dream It's Over", and "Come Undone" made a cool and relaxing mood start that would make you sway. Two more easy favorites followed with "Upside Down" and "Question Of Lust". The tempo increases a bit with the band that according to news is scheduled to visit MANILA early next year 2010 to do a concert and that's TEARS FOR FEARS with their song "Shout". Btw. you'll hear a lady shouting as an effect that DJ Rhom added. Hopefully, PINOY WAVERS/PUNKS would hear Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith sing live here in MANILA next year. Let's just cross our fingers KABAYANS!! The next bunch of songs will get you fired up to rock and roll more into that NEW WAVE Groove. Hmmmp!! Running Away with some Thieves Like Us that would create an Animal Magic? Wheeew!! That's The Bottom Line guys okay, then we will be Walking Away with a great finale while our Beds Are Burning. Nice Outro again!! This is a NICE SET indeed for time travelling. I hope you guys like the New Wave Mix like the way I did. THANKS DJ Rhom for sharing your New Wave Mix here in "The Doctor Is In"which is still "The Original" and "The one and only" Blog that features "The Best Of PINOY NEW WAVE MIXES". YUP!! It's still here and will always be here so expect more to come in the future from my KABAYANS who mixes music for the love of sharing. YUP!! It's VIRUS SCANNED this time!! He He He!!

Btw, here's a great message from DJ Rhom that he wanna share to us:

FRIDAY MADNESS

Yesterday, I received an email from an MCA RECORDS representative regarding this new PHILIPPINE release 2-CD compilation package entitled "FRIDAY MADNESS: BEST OF 80s" that included a AD text and an mp3 promo. YUP!! The CD title was taken from MAGIC 89.9 RETRO RADIO PROGRAM every FRIDAY entitled "FRIDAY MAGIC MADNESS" which officially began in the mid-90s and up to now It's still wild and crazy on MANILA's FM DIALS. Well, this is the REAL THING and not an imaginary sort of thing so I decided to make a blogpost out of it. Of course, It's about the 80s which is my favorite decade so here it goes. I'll post the entire text from the PROMO AD which was sent by MCA RECORDS. Btw, this is not a paid advertisement guys. It's for the LOVE OF SHARING.

I'll present you first the PROMO VOICE FILE so get ready to travel again back to the 80s.

LISTEN HERE:

Time to tease your hair, put on your acid washed jeans, and wear neon clothing. THE 80s ARE BACK!!! Magic 89.9 and MCA Music present - FRIDAY MADNESS, the album. Featuring the best music from the 80s On 2 CDs.

The 80s were dominated by the widespread use of synthesizers and keyboards. In the United States, MTV was launched and music videos began to have a huge effect on the record industry. Pop artists such as Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, Wham!, and Michael Jackson mastered the format and helped turned this new product into a profitable business.

The 80’s saw a time when the charts, MTV and Arena venues were overloaded with big hair, load guitars and people that should really know better. This retrospective release takes you back to that time to bask in the glory of a bygone period when men could look like women and no one knew the damage we were causing to the ozone layer with our excessive usage levels of aerosol hairspray cans.

Catch the launch of FRIDAY MADNESS – The album

on August 28, 9PM E’s Bar, Edsa Shangri-La

The event also features Pinoy Band TRUE FAITH(got their band name from a NEW ORDER Song) and of course MAGIC 89.9's very own DJ JON TUPAZ. Btw, my little blog "The Doctor Is In" will feature DJ JON TUPAZ in the near future so do STAY TUNE for that guys. Of course we will also feature DJ JON TUPAZ' Legendary Mobile PSYCHODECO and even his very own 80s and NEW WAVE mixes here in my little blog. Hmmmp!! I think that's really something to look forward to. THANKS to the TUPAZ family namely DJ JON and MISS PEACHY.

DJ PANGGAP's Pretentious Wave Mix

Two months ago Rob and Rhenzo referred me to their fellow Bedroom DJ on Multiply who also loves to make Music Mixes like them. DJ Joel Oris aka. DJ Panggap(in English "Pretend") is the person I'm talking about and I guess he joins both Rhenzo and Rob as Comfort Room este Bedroom DJs being featured here on "The Doctor Is In". He He He!! The Comfort Guys? Naaaah!! Well, DJ Joel would comfort you guys for another Great NEW WAVE MIX in this little blog of mine. YUP!! You got it right!! We're Pumping It Up Again!! Actually, I was the one who made this DJ Panggap Blogpost Picture and the MIX Title to make things groovie and shaking. He He He!! So another KABAYAN who I think deserves also to be featured here like the other KABAYANS who I have chosen before to SHARE some NEW WAVE MIXING for you guys.

DJ JOEL started DJing during his high school days back in 1986 as a Bedroom DJ, then on his college days he, together with his elder brother and their friends, put up a mobile disco when they were at Fort Bonifacio. He loves any type of music depending upon his mood from the late 70s music to the 80s NEW WAVE/DISCO and up to 90s dance hits. So why DJ Panggap? Hmmmp!! He admitted that he's not a veteran or an excellent DJ and confirms that he just know something about DJing. Pretending to be a DJ? Well, I guess he just humbly love doing this kind of things. He had some stint as an alternate DJ at PSG Officers Club House at Malacañang Park when his boss discovered that he has a talent in spinning. In 1996-1998 he was able to jam with the DJs at KILLER BEE in Lucena City during their "PARTY ON WEEKENDS" specials. So I present you another NEW WAVE MIXSET from KABAYAN DJ Joel.

Nice incoming set of songs from Robyn Wright,Wild Swans, and EATB that would satistify your NEW WAVE cravings. Then increasing your mood with a classic movie theme song that every PINOY WAVER loves which is "PRETTY IN PINK" by PSYCHEDELIC FURS. It was so loved, that an all girl PINOY BAND was named after the movie/song which was "PRETTIER THAN PINK" which made a hit song entitled "KOOL KA LANG" back in the early 90s. Well, he also included a PINOY WAVER favorite in SEONA DANCING. Ending the set with "HEAVEN" so that's the way you felt? He He He!! It's really another time travel for you guys while listening to DJ Joel's Mix and hopefully you'll like it the way I did. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DJ JOEL FOR SHARING YOUR TALENT HERE!!

DJ JOVEN's Wave Addiction MIX

Few months ago I spotted this PINOY MUSIC MIXES website called MIX MINISTRY and I got to know KABAYAN Dj Joven Balin on that site. YUP!! Full of good music mixes from my KABAYAN on that site from different musical genres and so I got a chance to get in touch with DJ Joven aka. "Boy Kislot" and asked him if he's willing to contribute a NEW WAVE MIX here in my little blog. The first MIX MINISTER that I'm going to feature. Would that mean that there would be more of them? Well, that depends on them. He He He!! According to DJ Joven, the music of the late FRANCIS M. have a lot to do in making him a music lover. He is a great fan of THE MASTER RAPPER!! FRANCIS M. was known to be "THE MOUTH" at 89DMZ and he had a radio show back in the 90s which DJ JOVEN loved to listen to. He was also very saddened with the death of his Idol FRANCIS M. like everyone here in MANILA. A self-confessed HIP HOP fan, he also opened up for other genres especially NEW WAVE and was greatly influenced by 89 DMZ's New Wave Radio show "WAVE180" hosted by "THE UNBEATABLE". Hmmmp!! I guess I have to say he is an avid DMZ fan don't you think. He had also some mobile experiences being a member of an obscure Taguig Mobile called "JSL Mobile" from 1998 to 2002. Actually, he loves any form of music as long as it satisfies his taste. So why the aka "Boy Kislot"? Well, he got it from reading XEREX XAVIERA's portion in a well known Philippine Tabloid called "ABANTE" which was very famous in the 90s. "Kislot" is one of the "For Adults Only" slang XEREX used back then. I wonder where XEREX is right now? Any ideas DJ Joven? He He He!! So guys I present you KABAYAN DJ Joven's WAVE ADDICTION MIX.

Nice entry song with "ALL I WANT" by THE LIGHTNING SEEDS because of the water effects on the song as if you started listening to the MIX underwater. My favorite part of this MIX would probably be the Back To Back BOOK OF LOVE songs namely "Modigliani" and "Boy" which follows next. Of course, who would not go crazy with FLESH FOR LULU classic "I GO CRAZY" which is a favorite among PINOY WAVERS because of the movie "SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL". Great choices of songs and definitely another time travel dancing for you guys. MODERN ENGLISH have two songs also in the set. For DJ Joven, he loves creating Plain and Simple Mixes without too much Loops, Samples, and Effects. This would make the sound very Analog for him which he greatly love. It's a 45minutes of reminiscing the good old days again by enjoying this superb mix. H20 singing about the rain and POSITIVE NOISE about lightning killing the jar of SIOUXSIE. He He He!! NU107 current NEW WAVE Program's theme EBTG "Ballad Of The Times" says it all for this Mix. Nice Set KABAYAN!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH DJ JOVEN FOR SHARING YOUR TALENT HERE IN MY BLOG!!

The Ultimate Eighties Collection

It was year 2006 when a batch of MP3 CDs entitled "THE ULTIMATE EIGHTIES COLLECTION" hit MANILA's shopping malls. Are these official releases from record companies? NOPE!! Just another bootleg If I may say since there were 10 volumes of these MP3 CDs which were sold remembering the entire decade of the 80s. The series were divided into 10 MP3 CDs each containing more than a hundred songs per CD namely 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989. Did I missed a year? He He He!! WOW!! I just remembered FONZIE would say on "THE FONZ AND THE HAPPY DAYS GANG" cartoons back in the 80s: "Can You Dig It?". Hmmmp!! Can you dig this compilation? Those were happy days indeed KABAYAN watching "SATURDAY FUN MACHINE" at RPN 9 during the 80s here in MANILA. A time travel cartoon series back then that is fitted to my blogpost.

The CDs highlighted the Best Hits of each year crossing the borders of the 80s decade. Last August 2008, I was able to spot the said 80s compilation but in a different format. YUP!! This time It's in DVD format but the 10 CDs became only two DVDs entitled "The Ultimate Eighties Collection Volume One and Volume Two". I bought the two DVDs for the purpose of listening to it since I wasn't able to buy any of the original 10 MP3 CDs which were released back in 2006 and I got to travel back each year from 1980 to 1989. Hmmmp!! Why not come up with an Ultimate Eighties New Wave Collection? Well, now each DVD contains more than 500 songs from the 80s and so that means buying the two volumes would give you more than 1,000 songs. Wheeew!! So It was divided into the years 1980-1984, and 1985-1989 depicting the first 5 years and later 5 years of the decade. Of course, It's not strictly New Wave because the title didn't indicate it. Definitely, It's about the pop culture of the 80s which I consider one of the great decades for good music whether any forms or genres.

The packaging of these two DVDs are very different from the original MP3 CDs, but the Logo remains the same. If you guys have the first series and wasn't able to complete it because you have to buy all 10 of them before, then this time you could complete the entire series by buying these two DVDs. I guess It's just the process of trying to recall the songs which hit the charts each year coming from 1980 to 1989. All sorts of Artists from different musical genres that includes THE BANGLES, FOREIGNER, HEART, PHIL COLLINS, THE POLICE, MICHAEL JACKSON, and a lot more to spin you around your time machine. How about joining FONZIE and the gang on their time machine with CUPCAKE and MR. COOL to go back to our childhood years? I guess we will just remember CASEY KASEM's "American TOP 40 Countdown" or even the BILLBOARD Charts. GREAT MEMORIES of the 80s!!

Btw, I bought a small souvenir guitar on one of my visits to the provinces and I was amazed that the cover of the second volume fits the guitar. TRIP LANG!! He He He!!

ULTIMATE EIGHTIES indeed!!

New Wave MASH-acre

DjDoct's New Wave MASH-UP
What's up DjDocT? What's a MASH-UP? Well, just lifting from my good friend DjDocT's Vinyl 80's blogsite: A MASHUP or bootleg (also mash up and mash-up) is a song or composition created from the combination of the music from one song with the acappella from another. These songs may be considered part of the European bastard pop musical genre. A mash-up is a song created out of pieces of two or more songs, usually by overlaying the vocal track of one song seemlessly over the music track of another. Is it clear already guys? So It's just like eating MASHED POTATOES. He He He!! Last month, when I was browsing DjDocT's Blog I came to an idea why not feature him again here in this little blog of mine and this time It's very much different from the first time we featured his so-called "Once In A Blue Moon" NEW WAVE MIX. YUP!! Since he added some flavor on his blog by making some MASH-UPS aside from the usual Vinyl Rips he features.

If you haven't heard DjDocT's WAVE-AFTER-WAVE Mix that I featured here in my blog last MAY 21,2008 then just click his picture to enter my blogpost about it and download his mix.

I then ask him If he his willing to share again his talent on my blog but this time It's a different flavor.YUP!! It's a NEW WAVE MASH-UP this time that I was thinking of. I've thought of around four to five Mash-ups if It's okay with him. I guess, he just can't resist and can't say "NO" to my Independent Blog. He HeHe!! Well, kidding aside I'm very THANKFUL to him that he was open to this great idea of mine. So here we go guys and let's feature DjDocT's NEW WAVE MASH-acre. Hmmmp!! It's definitely a MASSACRE of sort don't you think? He He He!! Of course, like always.I used again images to spice up this blogpost of mine.

New Wave BEATMEISTER Mix

Just can't get enough of those New Wave Mixes here in my blog? Well, here's another one for you guys from none other than ALEX aka. "THE BEATMEISTER". This fellow "Blue And Gold" blogger is actually my first Pinoy Music Blogger that I've linked in my blog. I've asked BEAT to do me a Fast Beat New Wave Mix that would at least remind us, PINOY WAVERS, the smooth slam dancing days of High School Dances and Soirees. He He He!! Hmmmp!! Memories indeed right? BEAT(as I call him) grew up with old-school funk and hip-hop tunes but was largely influenced by ‘80s new wave music and even have a massive collection of vinyls which he keeps to this day. WOW!! A fellow Vinyl Record collector too like me. He termed himself as a Hobbyist and Filipino bedroom DJ. Hmmmp!! ....Bedroom DJ? His interest in DJ’ng started when he first saw some friends playing in school fairs so he got amazed with it tried his hand at mixing and it got him interested to up to this date. He also remembered borrowing his friend’s equipment to practice and eventually bought his own gadgets. Thus, becoming his friend’s mobile group’s DJ and were invited to small events and parties to provide the music. He then thought of creating his own Music Mix Blog "TOTALLY MIXED UP" wherein he shares his talent for mixing and have some DJ friends featured on his blog. He was also invited by a European-based Internet radio station which broadcasts his mixes in a regular slot that lasts for a good one hour. PROUD TO BE PINOY!!

So here it goes!!! We've got "THE BEAT" in my blog!!

THE BEATMEISTER New Wave Mix

This great fast New Wave Mix started smooth with LOTUS EATERS and then the beat goes up with recent Manila Visitor REAL LIFE with their LOST 80s finale song "CATCH ME I'M FALLING".4...3...2...1.... It's "MAJOR TOM" next, now we're getting more pumped up with music from SPARKS and WIRE TRAIN. Of course, who would not go slam dancing with RAMONES extended version of "I WANNA BE SEDATED" that would let you shout "OI!! OI!! Let's Go!!". The next songs will definitely make you more wild with two PINOY all-time New Wave slamdancing favorites BILLY IDOL's "DANCING WITH MYSELF" and THE CURE's "BOYS DON'T CRY"(I still remember EAT BULAGA's Boy's Don't Cry Dance Contest). This is one kind of Nostalgic Trip you wouldn't like to miss. He He He!! Birthday Boy MORRISSEY with THE SMITHS is really cool to hear with "THIS CHARMING MAN". HAPPY BIRTHDAY MORRISSEY!! BEAT ended the mix with "WALKING ON SUNSHINE"......well guys "don't you feel good?" I enjoyed listening to the mix and I wanna thank THE BEATMEISTER for sharing this on my Blog. High School Dances and Soirees memories indeed Bro!! Thanks a lot BEAT!!

DjDOCT's Wave After Wave Mix!!

Well, here's another New Wave Mix for you guys here in my blog. I have requested DjDOCT if he could make me a New Wave Mix which I will feature here on my blog to give another blogpost spice and indeed he was also delighted with the idea of him sharing his talent for us. NAKS!! DjDOCT is a DENTIST by profession in Pampanga and have some DJ experiences back in his High School and College Days. Hmmmp!! When was that Doc? He He He!! A great music enthusiast and a Vinyl collector, he also created his own Music Blog called Vinyl 80s which is included on my Links that features his own ripping of his Vinyl Records. Definitely another PINOY talent and a self-confessed Power 105 DZBM fan. I'm just glad to feature his mix and I hope you guys would love it the way I did. If you wanna travel again back in time and listen to those New Wave Dance Party Mixes of the 80s then better download his mix and enjoy the music that would enter you into another Time Capsule.

DjDoct New Wave Mix

Check out his Blog here: http://vinyl80s.blogspot.com/

The Mix started smooth and slow with CUTTING CREW's "I'VE BEEN IN LOVE BEFORE" and followed by an All-Time PINOY New Wave favorite "MORE TO LOSE" by SEONA DANCING that increases the tempo a bit. Wheew!! It's time to really dance. A song from DEPECHE MODE follows "NEW LIFE" and I remember the spoof lyrics of this song back in the 80s which were popular in school campuses "Circulating, Masturbating, NEW LIFE(2x)". Ha Ha Ha! Nice to hear THE RAILWAY CHILDREN too and this guys are not related with " MGA BATANG RILES" that starred Kempee De Leon, Gary Estrada and other young stars in the Philippine Cinema ok. OooWs!! The beat gets faster as you go on and it made you feel "JUST LIKE HEAVEN". How to end the mix with a B52s classic "ROCK LOBSTER" which was also a massive hit here in MANILA back in 1980. Another great mix indeed!! He informed me that it would be quite a while before he could make another New Wave Mix like this one. Well, he just made it especially for my little blog. I am honored Doc!!

Thanks DjDoct!!!

NEW WAVE HITS of the 80's

I was in MEDSCHOOL when this excellent 80s Compilation CD entitled "NEW WAVE HITS OF THE 80s" was made available here in MANILA at ODYSSEY RECORDS. It was 1994 and the Philippine Music Scene was in the middle of the ALTERNATIVE ROCK BOOM both Foreign and Lokal Acts when this great RHINO Records Compilation was released here in MANILA and a lot of Volumes were also conceptualized after the success of the first one. If I'm not mistaken, there were a total of 18 Volumes created by RHINO Records and for me each Volume is a great catch for NEW WAVERS who really missed the music during those times it was released. YUP!! The DECADE of the 90s was really dedicated to the so-called ALTERNATIVE ROCK MUSIC and this Compilation back then would at least have revived the music of the Decade which just ended....and it was the Unforgetable 80s. I consider it as one of the early NEW WAVE COMPILATION CDS that were released in the 90s which made a great tribute to the Musical Genre called NEW WAVE. Since, the CD SERIES is a mixture of the COMMON and HARD TO FIND New Wave Music I decided to buy only 5 CDs from the compilation which included the Special HOLLOWEEN and CHRISTMAS release which were also made available on the now defunct TOWER RECORDS Philippines by year 1999-2001 . The Inner Cover Sleeves of each Volume is very impressive because it contain informations about the songs on the Tracklist and it's Chart Success if there were any and of course there were also Band photos and stories included on the Inserts. A Great Compilation Indeed!!

Well, luckily fellow Blogger BABAKAZOO have uploaded 16 CDs from the NEW WAVE HITS OF THE 80's Series in his blog. It also contain the whole Tracklist of each Volume.

Do check it out!!
