Mostly It's PACQUIAO!!

MABUHAY KA Emmanuel D. Pacquiao popularly known as MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO!! YUP!! It's KABAYAN Manny Pacquiao's win over Sugar Shame este Shane Mosley via unanimous decision with the judges scoring the bout at 119-108, 120-108, 120-107 all in favor of the Filipino Boxing Icon. Definitely, another way of being "PROUD TO BE PINOY" thing!! This will be a 6th blogpost of MANNY PACQUIAO here on "The Doctor Is In". Hindi lang Pang-Music, Pang-Sports pa!! KAILANGAN PA BANG I-MEMORIZE YAN!! Ha Ha Ha!! Another achievement for Manny who is now considered as the First Billionaire in the Philippine House Of Congress, Huh? KABAYANS do you believe that? Personally, Manny is the First Honest Income Billionaire Congressman in the Philippines since every KABAYANS knows that there are more of this Billionaire thing in Congress that got it from CORRUPTION and that doesn't include our great boxing icon since Manny earned everything the good and proper way. Everyone is not blind. He He He!! Pacquiao no doubt dominated the fight as Mosley refused to attack him throughout the fight. What a Shame for Mosley and there's no more Sugar okay!! Pacquiao definitely outclassed Mosley!! PACMAN wore his yellow gloves as a symbol of unity and fight for poverty here in the Philippines which is still very much present. Nice advocacy indeed!! It was also nice seeing another popular KABAYAN singing the Philippine National Anthem with grace and perfection, and she's none other than CHARICE PEMPENGCO. No criticism this time since she sang it the way it should be sang with no alteration whatsoever.

Manny Pacquiao delivered a solid left punch from his own combination which made Shane Mosley saw stars and dropped down the ring on Round 3. A push by Sugar Shane on the 10th round made Pacman really angry with the referee because he was counted down but Mosley just went on avoiding Pacman's punches. YUP!! He's like a chicken running without the head. Manny is now considered "THE DESTROYER" since he really destroyed everyone on path and of course destroying the boxing careers of his opponents. So what's next? I guess FLOYD "The Chicken" MAYWEATHER is really afraid to face Pacquiao because Manny will surely destroy his Undefeated Clean Slate and Manny will also destroy his career. CONGRATULATIONS MANNY PACQUIAO!! You made the whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY again "PROUD TO BE PINOY"!!

Here are my Five other PACMAN Blogpost which I created before here in my little blog "The Doctor Is In" which I also indicated the blogposts dates. Just click each photos to enter each blogpost just in case you haven't read it yet.

PACMAN ATE 8 TITLES!!

CONGRATS AGAIN MANNY!!

As my blogpost title says...PACMAN just ate eight straight titles and another achievement in Boxing History. This made us PROUD to be PINOY again!! Wheeew!! A lot have been said and done about the PACQUIAO versus MARGARITO fight yesterday NOVEMBER 14 (MANILA Time) at the COWBOY STADIUM at ARLINGTON TEXAS so I just like to congratulate my KABAYAN MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO for a job well done again. How come those three COWGIRLS sang the AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM with those skinny shorts? Huh? If that happens here in MANILA, it would really create a lot of controversies. Right KABAYANS? He He He!! Well, I think Zyrene Parsad sang the PHILIPPINE NATIONAL ANTHEM in a superb way. That's one of the highlights usually of a PACQUIAO fight whether the person who will sing the "LUPANG HINIRANG" would give justice to it. This is my 5th Blogpost about MANNY's Fights since year 2008. YUP!! I had blogposts about his fight with DE LA HOYA, HATTON, COTTO, CLOTTEY, and now MARGARITO. Just search for my "SPORTS" Labels to read those blogposts of mine. And all these fights were won by none other than PHILIPPINES' PRIDE and GLORY MANNY PACQUIAO. It was indeed a UNANIMOUS DECISION but MARGARITO put up a deserving fight too compare to CLOTTEY. MANNY and COACH FREDDIE ROACH even told the referee to stop the fight to prevent further devastation of MARGARITO's face but Referee COLE just didn't listen so it really resulted in a worn out and damage face . WOW!! All those punches!!

So what's next for PACMAN? Well, I think he better get a rest and be a CONGRESSMAN again. Are we looking for a PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER fight? Naaaah!! I guess PRETTY BOY FLOYD is just too afraid to face MANNY. Too much TRASH TALK from the MAYWEATHER camp without actions makes you wonder if FLOYD JR. is really up to the challenge or just scared to have his FIRST LOSS in his boxing career. MANNY did made a lot of MONEY again in this fight and also made every FILIPINO Happy and Proud!! Very inspiring indeed for this humble guy from SARANGANI.

This is MANNY's EIGHT TITLE and he definitely deserves it with his determination and devastating skills. The TIJUANA TYPHOON is just isn't too good for MANNY. YUP!! There's even a joke here that MARGARITO can be called "MAGA RITO" which in Pilipino means "INFLAMED HERE". A lot of INFLAMMATION indeed in MARGARITO's face put an exclamation point on MANNY's power. CONGRATULATIONS MANNY PACQUIAO!! The whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY around the GLOBE are VERY PROUD of YOU!!

As of what I have gathered, here are the EIGHT BOXING TITLES that MANNY PACQUIAO won. I included it here in my blogpost and just inform me if there are some corrections since I'm not really a Boxing Expert. THANKS!!

1) The Ring Featherweight World Title
2) WBC Super Featherweight International
3) WBC Lightweight World Title
4) WBO Welterweight World Title
5) WBO Super Champion Belt
6) The Ring Junior Welterweight World Title
7) IBO Junior Welterweight
8) WBC Super Welterweight

masaGHANAng PACMANalo!!

CONGRATS AGAIN PACMAN!! I guess my KABAYAN Manny Pacquiao is really unstoppable these days since PACMAN has now won 12 straight bouts. Wheeew!! That's what you call a TRUE CHAMPION!! YUP!! That's a total of 8 World Titles in 8 Different Weight Divisions and it's indeed a World Record Achievement for Manny who just won over Joshua Clottey via Unanimous Decision at the sold-out Cowboys Stadium last Saturday MARCH 13, 2010 (U.S. Time). Let's still give credit to Clottey since he is the first opponent after two years to hear the final bell while fighting with Pacman. YUP!! Clottey managed to stay alive up to the 12th round of the fight. Well, It was a very lopsided fight that didn't have much intesity running throughout, but the important thing for my KABAYANS is that Manny won again. That's PROUD TO BE A FILIPINO!! This would be my 4th Blogpost regarding PACMAN's bout here in my little blog "The Doctor Is In" and all of those were indeed "CONGRATULATION" blogposts. I'm not anymore going to the details of the fight and let's leave it again to the experts okay. Btw, Rock Band JOURNEY's Filipino Lead vocalist ARNEL PINEDA sang our PHILIPPINE NATIONAL ANTHEM.

So why the blogpost title "masaGHANAng PACMANalo"? MASAGANA is a Tagalog word that means "BOUNTIFUL" and PANALO is also a Tagalog word which means "VICTORY". Of course I used GHANA since It's the country of origin of Joshua Clottey. Everybody knows why I used PACMAN. So I guess that's my little tribute again to my KABAYAN Emmanuel D. Pacquiao aka. PACMAN "The Greatest Fighter Of The Era". THANKS for dropping by again guys!!

PACQUIAO- Greatest Fighter of the era!!

It's a joyful day and a splendid CHRISTMAS SEASON for Filipinos because the one and only MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO also known here in the Philippines as "Pambansang Kamao" did it again by beating Miguel Angel Cotto of Puerto Rico via a 12th round TKO of their boxing match dubbed as "FIRE POWER" at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last weekend November 14, 2009. YUP!! It's a triumphant day indeed in the whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY!! CONGRATULATIONS KABAYAN MANNY PACQUIAO!! You made us PINOYS very proud indeed. The referee stopped the fight in the 55th second of the 12th and final round and PACMAN became the new Welterweight Champion of the World. Well, that was a good fight and it placed an exclamation point that our KABAYAN MANNY is really the Greatest Pound For Pound Boxer of the World. The entire nation was really praying hard that MANNY would win this fight and definitely the prayers were answered and of course MANNY did a great job doing his own thing on the ring smashing COTTO. Wheeew!! I just remembered that Shampoo Commercial of MANNY that emphasized on removing COTTO in the hair. He He He!! All have been said and done regarding the fight and so no need to elaborate on the specifics and let's just leave it to the boxing experts. One thing is certain "MANNY PACQUIAO is the GREATEST FIGHTER OF THE ERA" as his trainor FREDDIE ROACH have said on the post-fight conference. I made also two special blogposts on MANNY's victories over OSCAR DELA HOYA and RICKY HATTON before here on my little blog "The Doctor Is In" so just check it on the Label "SPORTS" if you havent read it yet. It's just sad that Z "The Dream"Gorres, another Filipino Champion who just won his bout recently against Luis Melendez, is in Critical Condition and is now in a Medically-Induced Coma. The whole FILIPINO community is praying for the recovery of Gorres. I guess with this PACMAN victory, a PACQUIAO- MAYWEATHER will be the real event come 2010 if it would push thru. Hmmmp!! That would definitely be another blockbuster since the crowd on the arena was chanting also "WE WANT FLOYD!!". After the fight, MANNY has humble words for himself which I greatly admire with this great Filipino Boxer. You made us all VERY PROUD TO BE FILIPINOS MANNY!! MABUHAY KA!! The Best Of The Greatest!!

PACQUIAO-BOXING LEGEND

My country, the PHILIPPINES, is now rejoicing over the recent KNOCK OUT win of KABAYAN Emmanuel D. Pacquiao popularly known as MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO over RICKY "THE HITMAN" HATTON. Definitely, this Front Page News of the Philippine Daily Inquirer which I bought says it all about MANNY!! Manny Pacquiao’s fists (PAMBANSANG KAMAO) made short work of Ricky Hatton last SUNDAY MAY,3 2009 (MANILA TIME) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with just 359 seconds. Wheeew!! I just remember that famous line from a famous eyedrop commercial that goes like this "It Gets The Red Out In 60 seconds". Hmmmp!! I guess that's it!! PACMAN is now a BOXING LEGEND indeed and no doubt about it. The whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY around the globe celebrated this great triumphant moment and PACMAN have given us great pride to be a FILIPINO. I didn't even imagine Ricky Hatton would be out so early like most of us did. Well, we were all shock of what happened but It gave an exclamation point and cemented that MANNY is indeed the WORLD'S GREATEST POUND FOR POUND BOXER right now. Even though Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have announced his comeback from a brief retirement few hours before the PACQUIAO-HATTON FIGHT yet that does not outstage the furious success of PACMAN over the ring bringing down Hatton on ROUND 2 of the fight. I guess, what I can say about this is that the MAY WEATHER FORECAST for today here in the PHILIPPINES is PACMAN THUNDERSTORM with frequent cloudy skies. He He He!! Actually, It has been raining here in the Philippines recently even though It's summertime maybe due to climate change or global warming but this PACMAN THUNDERSTORM I'm talking about would definitely remain in every hearts of every FILIPINO around the world. PROUD TO BE PINOY!! There can be no doubt right now that MANNY PACQUIAO is BOXING'S UNDISPUTED KING as he continues to rampage everyone on the ring. He also made the SPORT OF BOXING exist and popular admist a lot of other competitions around like the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC (not to be mistaken to a Filipino BANANA CATSUP Brand okay). A boxing hero indeed!!

So what did really happen in the PACQUIAO-HATTON fight? Well, lets leave that to the real Sports Analysts and Experts on this thing. What is important right now for FILIPINOS at the moment is to celebrate this brilliant KNOCK OUT win of PACMAN over Hatton via a fierce straight left punch that HIT "THE HITMAN". It's also nice to see FILIPINO-AMERICAN Professional Wrestler DAVE BATISTA walking along with MANNY as he enters the ring. WOW!!AMAZING SUPPORT INDEED!! In the world of NEW WAVE MUSIC, PINOY WAVERS know that "MORRISSEY was the one WHO PUT THE M. IN MANCHESTER", I guess "The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way" of modifying this would be "MANNY PUT THE M. IN MANCHESTER" by beating Hatton. He He He!! Well, this time I didn't buy the RUSH DVD of the fight which was also made available few hours after the fight. PINOY STYLE?

There is this nice COMIC CARICATURE in the Philippine Daily Inquirer which I bought that I also wanna share to you which I find great. Hmmmp!! ANG GALING MGA KABAYAN DIBA? I went to mass that evening and during the PRIEST's HOMILY he told us that he visited this CONVENT run by NUNS/SISTERS and was amazed to know that these NUNS/SISTERS were really praying for PACMAN's success. WOW!! Talking about PRAYERS!! Being raised as a CATHOLIC and have studied on a CATHOLIC school I always believe that "PRAYER IS POWERFUL". I was touched seeing MANNY bending his knees praying before and after the fight. Wheeew!! That I may say was a great factor on his win. Running for President? Naaaaah!!

Here's also a great Inquirer Front Page photo that I wanna include here in my blogpost to make you smile for a while. YUP!! They were both laughing on the PRE-FIGHT conference and inside the venue was MANNY's dearest MOTHER "ALING DIONESIA". It's MOTHER'S DAY this coming MAY 10,2009 so to all Mothers "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY".

Btw, I also made a blogpost last DECEMBER regarding the PACQUIAO vs. DE LA HOYA Dream Match so If you haven't read it yet then just click the "DREAM MATCH" LOGO to enter my Blogpost:

I would like to CONGRATULATE KABAYAN MANNY PACQUIAO for this great PRIDE he gave for us FILIPINOS. PROUD TO BE PINOY!! So before I end my blogpost, I want you to listen and watch the latest MUSIC VIDEO/SONG of MANNY PACQUIAO which was composed and directed by LITO CAMO entitled "LAHING PINOY" which was also used as ENTRANCE song of MANNY on the fight. I love the lyrics of this song "VERY SIMPLE and VERY PINOY". Well, I hope you enjoyed another of my little tribute on the great Filipino boxer MANNY PACQUIAO. BOB ARUM was even quoted saying that he promoted MANNY the way he promoted boxing greats Muhammad Ali and Marvelous Marvin Hagler. THANKS for dropping by again!! MABUHAY ANG PILIPINAS!! MABUHAY ANG PINOY!! As the lyrics would go: "PILIPINO...PILIPINO...PILIPINO...ANG LAHI KO!".

Here's the "LAHING PINOY" Video from GMA 7:

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congrats MANNY PACQUIAO!!

CONGRATULATIONS to MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO!!
Definitely I have to make a blogpost about this because MANNY gave PRIDE to all PINOYS around the world by beating OSCAR "THE GOLDEN BOY" DE LA HOYA by an 8th Round TKO yesterday DECEMBER 7, 2008 on their historic match called "THE DREAM MATCH".

Well, for me It was a well deserve win for MANNY aside from being called "PACMAN" he is also popularly known here in the Philippines as "PAMBANSANG KAMAO" in English "National Fist". I wasn't able to watch it LIVE because I was busy that time and so I just followed it on radio and watched the delayed telecast as usual. The fight was really great and I think that MANNY proved a lot beyond doubt that he is really the POUND FOR POUND WORLD CHAMPION. Of course, who would like to miss out buying the NEWSPAPERS before and after the fight which would go down to history as one of the greatest boxing match ever.

All the hype, controversies, and intrigues were concluded after that memorable fight and indeed the whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY rejoiced on such an achievement by our KABAYAN Manny. Even the NEWS would report on the absence of CRIME recorded by the Philippine National Police(PNP) while the boxing match is still on hand whether It's the LIVE "Pay Per View" or the delayed GMA7 telecast. I was really impressed on how Manny improved a lot regarding his fighting stances and techniques. He did go a long way. I just do hope he would reconsider all those politicians encouraging him to enter the dirty world of Philippine Politics. That's the only thing that would beat him right now. He didn't win on the last 2007 Elections so why try it again. I will not anymore tackle on the details of the match since those experts have already given their views and insights thru media.

Here's a Plastic Bag that I was able to find on my cabinet which I use to hide some of my papers and incidentally I realized that It is a great theme for Pacquiao's achievement.

Recently, I bought the latest READER'S DIGEST with PACQUIAO on the Front Cover. Manny was the second PINOY to be featured as Reader's Digest's Front Cover this year 2008. As you will recall PINOY COMEDIAN ACTOR "MICHAEL V." popularly known as "BITOY" was featured also this year.

PACMAN!!

Since I will be blogging about PACMAN, I then tried to look for my old PACMAN ATARI TAPE and TAAAARAAAAAAHH!! I found it!! Ha Ha Ha!! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL PACMAN!! Well, the bottom sticker label is already torn but at least It's still with me. One of my all time favorite video games and definitely considered as one of the ancestors of the new generation of VIDEO GAMES. VINTAGE IN A TRUE SENSE!! This Arcade game was developed wayback 1980 by NAMCO and definitely Manny's Boxing Alyas was derived from this one. I also love the PACMAN Cartoon Series back in the 80s which was also shown here in MANILA during the NEW WAVE ERA. WHEEEW!! Memories Indeed!!

MONEY PACQUIAPO
este MANNY PACQUIAO

And would you believe what I saw on today's visit to QUIAPO? YUP!! The DVD COPY of "THE DREAM MATCH". ANG TINDI TALAGA NG PINOY!! Walako masabi!! Ha Ha Ha!! Since It's the FEAST of IMMACULATE CONCEPCION we were able to attend mass at QUIAPO CHURCH and at the same time since I haven't gone to QUIAPO for a while I looked around to shop some affordable things to buy as Christmas Gifts. The DVD? Pirated? Naaaah!! Of course I bought it!! Ha Ha Ha! According to the guys who sold me this, the DVD was already made available few hours after the fight. Wheeew!! That was fast!! YUP!! I got it after one day. I was not able to watch it full so this time I have the luxury of watching it all over again and I can even Rewind and Fast Forward it If I wanted to. He He He!! PACQUIAPO kaba o PADIVISORIA? I guess It's MORE MONEY for MANNY!!

MANNY is indeed a BOXING ICON!! The time of OSCAR "THE GOLDEN BOY" DE LA HOYA have already drained down. Just to quote Oscar "I just don't have it anymore". Actually I love the gesture of OSCAR when he approached MANNY after the decision. OSCAR was very humble and was even proud of PACMAN. A true gentleman I may say for OSCAR, he even approached his former Trainor FREDDIE ROACH(Manny's Coach) and congratulated him for a well deserve win. FRIENDSHIP for both MANNY and OSCAR!! GALING TALAGA!! MIKE TYSON was even present watching the fight!!

LAKERS vs. CELTICS Finals (80's and '08)

80's and '08
Well, the 80s was a great decade for music for me as my blog have been featuring it especially on my kind of music. Another thing about this unforgetable decade was the SPORTS scene and mainly one of my favorite sports...... "BASKETBALL". YUP!! I'm a basketball freak and the 80s was really great for both the PHILIPPINE BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION(PBA) and of course the NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION(NBA). Just to be different for now, I'm blogging about sports and it's also very relevant on my Blog Concept since I will be featuring the Rivalry of LAKERS and CELTICS both capturing the 80s and the recent 2008 championship series.

Here in MANILA, who would forget the disbandment of both LEGENDARY PBA TEAMS TOYOTA and CRISPA(PBA classic rivalry of the 70s and early 80s) which would definitely be compared with NBA's intense basketball rivalry between the LOS ANGELES LAKERS and the BOSTON CELTICS. For me the 80s was really a great decade for the PBA too because the Second Generation of PBA LEGENDS were born on the Hardcourt from the batch of SAMBOY "The Skywalker" LIM to the batch of ALVIN "The Captain" Patrimonio.

LAKERS or CELTICS?

That's the major question for many Pinoy Basketball Enthusiasts back in the 80s.

The two main man for these two NBA FRANCHISES back then were MAGIC JOHNSON for the LAKERS and LARRY BIRD for the CELTICS. The 80s was dominated by the great Championship Match Up of these two great teams from the EAST and the WEST. I was a LAKER FAN during the 80s, but in the latest '08 Finals I go for the CELTICS. The Lakers and the Celtics have met 11 times already in the NBA Finals, with Boston winning the first eight meetings, and Los Angeles winning the next two both in the 80s . They met three times in the FINALS during the 80's from 1984,1985,1987. The LAKERS got the title in 1985 and 1987.... Hmmmp!! Those were the years NEW WAVE was peaking up here in MANILA. Last June 2008 NBA Championship, the Celtics won the Championship series 4 games to 2 over the Lakers. That makes the FINALS CHAMPIONSHIP record still in favor for the CELTICS with a solid 9-2 card.

Remembering those assist passes of MAGIC, those long three-point shots of BIRD. WOW!! MEMORIES INDEED!! Of course both these players together wiith MICHAEL JORDAN(Who was starting to make an impact already) revolutionized Basketball during the golden decade of the 80s. In the MEDICAL FIELD, it was a shocking news regarding Magic's Health condition being HIV positive.

.

It's not all MAGIC and BIRD during those times okay. Who would forget Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's SKY HOOK? CLASSIC!! Reminds me of our very own RAMON "EL PRESIDENTE" FERNANDEZ ELEGANT SHOT. BTW, when Kareem visited MANILA the HOTEL he stayed in have to make a special King Size Bed for him to use. Hmmmp!! TRIPLE XTRA LARGE KASI!! Ha Ha Ha!! James Worthy, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott,Kurt Rambis(Clark Kent?) were some LAKERS I would remember. A great travel down memory lane I may say. On the CELTICS side the tall Kevin Mchale, the shooter Danny Ainge, Cedric Maxwell and Dennis Johnson.

Well, here are just some highlights for the LAKERS vs CELTICS FINALS during the 80s from WIKIPEDIA to refreshen up our memories and help us travel back to time:

1984 NBA Finals recap

By virtue of a 62-20 record, the Celtics had homecourt advantage over the Lakers who finished the regular season with a 54-28 mark. The first two games were played at the Celtics home court, the
Boston Garden, while the next two were held at the Lakers home court, The Forum in Inglewood, California. The Celtics then hosted games 5 and 7 while the Lakers would host game 6.

The Celtics defeated the Lakers four games to three. The Lakers opened the series with a 115-109 victory at the Boston Garden. In Game 2, the Lakers led 113-111 with 18 seconds left when Gerald Henderson stole a James Worthy pass to score a game tying layup and the Celtics eventually prevailed in overtime 124-121. In Game 3, the Lakers raced to an easy 137-104 victory as Magic Johnson dished out 21 assists. After the game, Larry Bird said his team played like "sissies" in an attempt to light a fire under his teammates. In Game 4, the Lakers had a five point game lead with less than a minute to play, but made several execution errors as the Celtics tied the game and then came away with a 129-125 victory in overtime. The game was also marked by Celtic forward Kevin McHale's takedown of Laker forward Kurt Rambis on a breakaway layup which triggered the physical aspect of the rivalry. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would go after Larry Bird later on in the third quarter, and 1981 Finals MVP Cedric Maxwell further antagonized the Lakers by following a missed James Worthy free throw by crossing the lane with his hands around his own neck, symbolizing that Worthy was "choking" under pressure. In Game 5, the Celtics took a 3-2 series lead as Larry Bird scored 34 points. The game was known as the "Heat Game", as it was played under 97-degree heat, and without any air conditioning at the infamous Boston Garden. In Game 6, the Lakers evened the series with a 119-108 victory. In the game, the Lakers answered the Celtics rough tactics when Laker forward James Worthy shoved Cedric Maxwell into a basket support. After the game, a Laker fan threw a beer at Celtics guard M.L. Carr as he left the floor, causing him to label the series "all-out-war." In Game 7, the Celtics were led by Cedric Maxwell, who had 24 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists as they came away with a 111-102 victory. In the game the Lakers rallied from a 14-point-deficit to three points down with one minute remaining, when Maxwell knocked the ball away from Magic Johnson. Dennis Johnson responded by sinking two free throws to seal the victory. Larry Bird
was named MVP of the series.

1985 NBA Finals recap

The Celtics, looking to repeat as NBA Champions, had homecourt advantage for the second year in a row as they finished the regular season with a 63-19 record while the Lakers compiled a 62-20 record. For the first time, the Finals went to a 2-3-2 format with games one and two in Boston while the next three games were in Los Angeles. The final two games of the series, if necessary, would be played in Boston.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Celtics four games to two. Game 1 became known as the "
Memorial Day Massacre" as the Celtics soundly beat the Lakers 148-114. Celtic reserve forward Scott Wedman made all 11 out of 11 field goal attempts. The Lakers responded in Game 2 with a 109-102 victory as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had 30 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists, and three blocks. Michael Cooper had 22 points, making 8 out of 9 field goals attempted. In Game 3, the Celtics had a 48-38 lead in the second quarter before the Lakers lead by James Worthy took a 65-59 lead at halftime and then pulled away in the second half to come away with a 136-111 victory. Worthy had 29 points while Abdul-Jabbar had 26 points and 14 rebounds. The Celtics tied the series in Game 4, 107-105 as Dennis Johnson hit a jumper at the buzzer. In Game 5, the Lakers raced out to a 64-51 lead and stretched it to 89-72 before the Celtics cut the deficit to 101-97 with six minutes remaining. However Magic Johnson
made three shots while Abdul-Jabbar added four more shots, and the Lakers came away with a 120-111 victory to take a 3-2 series lead. Abdul-Jabbar led the Lakers with 36 points. The series shifted to Boston with only one full day off for both teams. In Game 6, the Lakers were led by Abdul-Jabbar who scored 29 points as the Lakers defeated the Celtics 111-100. Magic had 15 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds; Worthy had 28 points on 11 for 15 shooting. It was the first and only time a visiting team had claimed an NBA championship in Boston Garden. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was named MVP of the series, making him the oldest player (38 years, 1 month, 24 days) ever to win the MVP of an NBA Finals series.

1987 NBA Finals recap

After being eliminated in the Western Conference Finals a year earlier, the Lakers returned to the NBA Finals and were awarded with homecourt advantage as they accumulated a 65-17 record while the Celtics finished the season with a 59-23 record. The first two games would be played in Los Angeles, the next three games in Boston, and the final two games, if necessary, were scheduled to be played in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Celtics four games to two. In Game 1, the Los Angeles Lakers came away with a 126-113 victory.
Magic Johnson had 29 points, 13 assists, and 8 rebounds, while James Worthy had 33 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. In Game 2, the Lakers took a 2-0 series lead with a 141-122 victory. Magic had 22 points and 20 assists, while Michael Cooper made six three point shots, then a record for the most three pointers made in a single NBA Finals game. In Game 3, the Celtics posted a 109-103 win, led by Larry Bird, who had 30 points and 12 rebounds. In Game 4, the Celtics had a 16-point lead in the third quarter before the Lakers stormed back into the game. Bird had hit a three point bomb with 12 seconds remaining to give the Celtics the lead, however, with two seconds remaining, Magic Johnson sank a "junior sky hook" to give the Lakers a 107-106 lead, then Bird missed a makeable 20-foot jumper as time expired, allowing Los Angeles to gain a three games to one lead. In Game 5, the Celtics prevented the Lakers from celebrating in the Boston Garden by coming away with a 123-108 win. Boston guard Danny Ainge made 5 out of 6 three-pointers attempted, including a 45-footer as the first half expired. In Game 6, the Lakers trailed the Celtics 56-51 at halftime, but thanks to an 18-2 run, they regained control of the game with a 30-12 third quarter to cruise to a 106-93 victory and their fourth championship in the decade. Magic Johnson was named unanimous MVP of the series, averaging 26.2 points, 13.0 assists, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.3 steals, leading the Lakers in all four categories.

We just travelled again back in the 80s as usual....the main concept of my blog. He He He!! Now we go to the recent 2008 NBA FINALS between the LAKERS and the CELTICS. The good thing here is that with the age of technology you got to watch it LIVE wherever you are in the globe. I remember during the 80s I just have to borrow the BETAMAX TAPE of the FINALS 1 week after the game. Hmmmp!! So I don't get to watch it LIVE. WaaaaH!!!

The game have been different the past two decades and changed drastically of course the personalities involve this time are very unique in a way.

KOBE BRYANT as always made the LAKERS look good this 2008 but with the so-called "BIG THREE" of CELTICS namely KEVIN GARNETT, PAUL PIERCE, and RAY ALLEN he wasn't able to maintain the tenacity. This time without Kobe's former team mate SHAQ the LAKERS were really no match for the CELTICS.

Here's a brief summary of the 2008 NBA FINALS from WIKIPEDIA:

2008 NBA Finals

The Celtics and the Lakers faced off in the NBA Finals for the first time in 21 years. During the regular season, the Celtics beat the Lakers in both meetings. However, these games occurred before the Lakers acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies. In the first game, held in Boston on November 23, 2007, the Celtics beat the Lakers 104–97. The Celtics again beat the Lakers 110–91 on December 30, 2007. Before the Finals began, many fans and the sports media picked the playoff-dominant Lakers to cruise through a Celtics team that went through two seven-game series with the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers and a tough and physical six-game battle with the Detroit Pistons.

In Game 1 of the 2008 Finals, Paul Pierce came back after apparently suffering a knee injury earlier in the game, and took over over the game for a 98-88 Celtics win.

In Game 2, the Celtics built a 24-point lead early in the fourth quarter. However, the Lakers hit a large number of three-pointers and scored 41 in the final quarter, cutting Boston's lead to two points late in the game. The Celtics hit several free throws to hold on, and won 108–102.

In Game 3, the Lakers beat the Celtics 87–81. In the game Paul Pierce made only 2 of his 14 field goals. Kevin Garnett also struggled, scoring 12 points. Ray Allen, the other member of Boston's "Big 3", scored 25 points. Saša Vujačić scored 20 points in 28 minutes and Kobe Bryant scored a series-high 36 points, leading the Lakers to their first win in the series. With the win the Lakers added another win to their undefeated streak at home in the 2008 postseason.

In Game 4, the Celtics completed the largest comeback in NBA Finals History by battling back from a 24-point deficit in the first half to win the game 97–91. The Celtics had strong performances from Pierce, Allen, James Posey (19 points off the bench) and Eddie House Bryant did not make his first field goal until the third quarter and finished with 17 points overall.

In Game 5, the Lakers again jumped out to a quick start, leading by as many as 19 in the second quarter. However, Boston again made a furious comeback and closed the halftime deficit to three. The Lakers would build their lead back up to 14 in the 4th quarter, but the Celtics again came back to tie the game at 90-90. With less than 1 minute left in the 4th quarter, the Celtics had the ball, trailing 97-95 with a chance to tie or take the lead. Pierce had apparently beat Bryant off the dribble, but Bryant knocked the ball out of Pierce's hands from behind. Lamar Odom recovered the loose ball, and passed down court to Bryant for the break away jam to give the Lakers a 99-95 lead. The steal and dunk by Bryant would seal the game for the Lakers, as the Lakers went on to win 103-98, and in the process, sending the series back to Boston.

In Game 6, Kobe Bryant jumped out with a hot shooting hand in the first quarter and scored 11 points, including hitting 3 out of 4 from beyond the 3-point line. But offensive contributions from other Lakers players were few and far between and the Celtics defense tightened and finished the quarter with a 24-20 lead. At the 7:50 mark of the second quarter, the Lakers trailed the game by three points, 32-29, and would never get any closer. Sparked by back to back 3-point shots by bench players James Posey and Eddie House, the Celtics went on a 26 to 6 run and completely took over the game. The second half brought more of the same, with the Celtics extending their lead to as high as 43 points with 1:22 left in the fourth quarter when Eddie House fed an alley-oop pass to Tony Allen for an over the shoulder exclamation mark slam. The Celtics throughly dominated the clinching game of their 17th championship by the final score of 131-92. Individually,Celtics Captain Paul Pierce was named MVP of the series while Ray Allen tied single game record for three pointers made in the clincher with seven, in the process he broke the previous record for three pointers made in a NBA Finals series. The 39 point differential in game 6 was the largest in a clinching game in NBA Finals history and the second largest margin overall for any Finals game.
