FRA LIPPO LIPPI Live In MANILA 1988

FRA LIPPO LIPPI
LIVE IN MANILA
1988

It was 1986, when WXB102 first introduced an unknown NORWEGIAN BAND here in MANILA who call themselves "FRA LIPPO LIPPI" by playing their songs "The Distance Between Us" and "Shouldn't Have To Be Like That". And the rest I may say was HISTORY!! I will have a different Blogpost about FRA LIPPO LIPPI in the future and how it evolved on PHILIPPINE RADIO back on those days so just stay tune. For now we will just concentrate on the band's FIRST LIVE CONCERT here in MANILA back in 1988. YUP!! This would be another TRIP BACK down MEMORY lane exclusive on "The Doctor Is In". Recently, a KABAYAN of mine just gave me an ADRENALINE RUSH over by whole body when he posted a link on my chatbox of this ULTIMATE RARE LIVE CONCERT RECORDING of FRA LIPPO LIPPI's concert wayback 1988 here in MANILA. I'm talking about none other than KABAYAN "SCHIZO" of "schizo archives" who really surprised me. Wheeew!! Thus, this BLOGPOST was born!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH "SCHIZO". I really appreciated what you have shared here in my little blog which just show that the spirit of "FILIPINO BAYANIHAN" is ALIVE and will always continue here on "DocMuzic". I guess, like yours truly "Dr. Stirring Rhod", I definitely know that "SCHIZO" has also a lot more to share about those good old NEW WAVE/PUNK days of the 80s here in MANILA.This would be DMZ or The "DocMuzic Zone"!! He He He!!

The music files that "SCHIZO" shared me brought back a lot of MEMORIES INDEED of that specific concert which became very FRESH on my MEMORY BANKS!! This made me look for my FRA LIPPO LIPPI Memorabilia of that 1988 concert on my VAULTS that included this 12 page Special Booklet and of course my Tickets. Well, I'm in luck because I was able to find them. Wheeew!! So here it goes!!

MY OWN FRA LIPPO LIPPI
1988 Concert MEMORABILIA
(After 20 YEARS!!)

FRA LIPPO LIPPI "LIVE IN CONCERT"
Dates: NOVEMBER 4,5,6, 1988
Venue: Tanghalang Francisco Balagtas
(FOLK ARTS THEATER)
OCTO ARTS International

It was the year 1987 when WXB102 finally bid farewell to all PINOY NEW WAVERS/PUNKS and this was indeed a sad chapter for music enthusiasts like me who loves NEW WAVE/PUNK/POST PUNK and their sub-genres. Well, there was the resurrection of POWER 105 and the birth of NU107 after XB signed-off on MANILA's 102.7 FM DIAL. In 1988, FRA LIPPO LIPPI which was introduced by WXB102 finally set foot here in MANILA to do a LIVE concert. There were five of us in the group when we watched this great concert and we all decided to watch it on the very first day which was FRIDAY NOVEMBER 4,1988.

We arrived around 7pm and the venue was already overflowed with FRA LIPPO LIPPI fans who can't wait to see and hear their Idols LIVE IN CONCERT. Hmmmp!! Of course, that includes me!! He He He!! The duo of PER OYSTEIN SORENSEN and RUNE KRISTOFFERSEN does not know yet how they would be received by PINOY audiences. YUP!! Both of them doesn't have a clue on how POPULAR they really are here in the PHILIPPINES. This was the very FIRST CONCERT of the band who officially visited my country six times already doing concerts and even promotional tour. As far as my MEMORY BANKS can remember, the show started around 8:30pm with a lot of Pre-concert Advertisements by the announcers on the venue. KENO who was a matinee idol/singer back in the 80s was the Front Act of that evening. What pissed us off was the OVER MENTIONING of POP STATION 93.9 DWKC which was one of the Major Sponsors of that event. WOW!! Did you know that when PER and RUNE received a phone call and was told to do that concert back in early 1988, they were never told of WXB102? The OCTO ARTS people never dared to mention "The Station That Dares To Be Different". Naaaaah!! That was TOTALLY UNFAIR!! So the whole evening was always WKC....WKC...WKC!! YUP!! What we did was to stump our feet on the floor whenever WKC was mentioned creating a humongous sound which everyone on the venue did too. A lot of heckling too regarding WKC I may say!! WOW!! MEMORIES INDEED!! . Little do PER and RUNE knows that most of the people on the venue were former XB listeners. Ha Ha Ha!! Actually, NU107 was the radio station that really commercialized this band into pop icon status by the release of "LIGHT AND SHADE" album which led to the discovery of other pop radio stations thus making FRA LIPPO LIPPI big here in the PHILIPPINES.

.....and now the Emcee of the evening announces the entrance of FRA LIPPO LIPPI. All the lights were off and then suddenly one dim spotlight ligthened up PER OYSTEIN SORENSEN then the first song "CRASH OF LIGHT" begins.
LISTEN TO"CRASH OF LIGHT" (MANILA 1988)

I found this song a good entrance song specially there was indeed a crash of light if you get my drift. He He He!! Nice sets of songs followed from "COME SUMMER", "SOME PEOPLE" and of course "THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US" which was the very first song played by WXB102 back in 1986. It created goosebumbs whenever you hear the FILIPINO audience singing to their song which all have indeed memorized the lyrics. That was amazing!! This made the duo even surprised!! Who would forget "EVERYTIME I SEE YOU" which for me would be "The Most Popular Song" and an Anthem for PINOY WAVERS. A great concert for this obscure band from NORWAY. I never watch their repeat concerts again and some friends of mine who decided to watch it informed me that this FIRST CONCERT back in 1988 was still the BEST!! Well, I'm just fortunate that I was a part of it. BIG THANKS to FRA LIPPO LIPPI indeed for the great songs they have shared to us PINOY!! Unfortunately, during those times cameras were not really allowed on the venue. Hmmmp!! A far cry nowadays since cellphones and even digicams can sneak in on to record any concerts. WOW!! We definitely ENJOYED watching this very memorable concert. YUP!! A CLASSIC NEW WAVE CONCERT INDEED!! Like what I always say here in my little blog "MUSIC MATTERS AND MEMORIES OF IT MATTERS MOST".

We are fortunate that KABAYAN "SCHIZO" shared a copy of the concert from his Vaults too here on "The Doctor Is In" which he divided into TWO CDs for us to reminice the good old days again. I reuploaded the music file for easy access and created a password. I'm very greatful that finally we have a copy. THANKS AGAIN "SCHIZO"!! You're THE MAN!!

The Essential FRA LIPPO LIPPI

FRA LIPPO LIPPI is an obscure band from NORWAY that made it big here in MANILA courtesy of "The Station That Dares To Be Different" WXB102. In 2005, a Philippine-only release FRA LIPPO LIPPI Compilation CD of the band's hits which also included four Live Cuts from their "Crash Of Light" Live album was made available by EMI Philippines entitled "THE ESSENTIAL FRA LIPPO LIPPI : Essence And Rare". Though this is not HARD-TO-FIND nor even a so-called RARE CD, but I decided to feature it and share the whole compilation because it is also perfect for those who doesn't know the band or doesn't even have an idea who FRA LIPPO LIPPI was. YUP!! A basic CD for those who wanna learn about their style of music which is very much in the NEW WAVE GENRE most especially the young generations of today. GREAT CD indeed!!

Actually, It has a nice and simple sleeve notes accompanying it and If you're a big fan of them then you should own this CD too on your collection. This is for promotional use only so I hope you guys will also get the original ones.

FRA LIPPO LIPPI (Greatest Hits bootleg)

There were lots of bootleg CDs that were made available here in MANILA during the 90s with nice packaging. By year 2003, these bootlegs have already been transformed into just a simple CDR with 1 page tracklisting paper with a photo of the CD cover and placed on a CD plastic. YUP!! It's poor presentation and packaging!! A bootleg CD that I bought wayback 1999 on one of my Wednesday Evening Novena visits at BACLARAN CHURCH was this FRA LIPPO LIPPI Greatest Hits CD. Well, it's not an extraordinary compilation of the greatest hits from the band, but I still wanna feature it here since it's a different CD and I haven't seen this FRA LIPPO LIPPI CD being featured in the blogosphere before. YUP!! Just to be different again. Btw, I love the version of "Even Tall Trees Bend" here. The CD cover and the sleeves are plain black and white. I uploaded the whole CD if you're just interested. Another of those FRA LIPPO LIPPI CDs that you just can't stop listening to all the way from TRACKS 1 to 16. Btw, I didn't place any SONG TITLE or THE ARTIST on each music files that I uploaded to really look like a bootleg. He He He!! Don't you worry the TRACKLIST is posted.

PUSH- The Cure

Here's a LIVE video of "PUSH" by "THE CURE" which is one of my favorite CURE songs from the classic "HEAD ON THE DOOR" album. Good thing they re-issued the album which was the DELUXE EDITION double CD package that contained extra tracks. I bought my copy from the defunct TOWER RECORDS PHILIPPINES when it was made available here in MANILA together with other classic CURE DELUXE EDITIONS CDs. YUP!! "This Is 102 MUSIC'!! The song didn't really top the charts but if you are a fan of the band you'll definitely know the song which has a deep lyrics in it. Of course, who will not forget that very long instrumental intro before ROBERT SMITH finally sang a line. Well, I decided to make a DOWNLOAD LOGO here in my blog so that in the coming blogposts this would be the photo that you will click when downloading files here on "The Doctor Is In". All files here are for promotional use only and I encourage you guys to still buy the originals and support the Artists and Bands.

(500) Days Of Summer

A very interesting upcoming film you might just wanna check out:

Few days ago, I had a Blogpost regarding RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME here in MANILA so this time we will talk about another thing regarding summer. YUP!! (500) Days Of Summer is an upcoming film which will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. The Movie Trailer caught my attention so here it goes a blogpost. Hmmmmp!! "THE SMITHS" being mentioned and hearing music from the band on the very first part of the movie trailer would just make any music enthusiast like me wonder what the film will be all about. Music from "HALL AND OATES", "REGINA SPEKTOR", and "WOLFMOTHER" makes the movie soundtrack very interesting. SID and NANCY being mentioned at the tail end would just make it blend together. That's a VICIOUS ending I may say. He He He!! Well, I guess we just have to wait what this Romantic Film would offer us. Actually, the trailer definitely reminds me of any classic JOHN HUGHES New Wave 80s-inspired film. YUP!! The name of the Director JOHN HUGHES is very famous among PINOY NEW WAVERS because of his films which I consider all classic in a way and watching any of it right now would just travel you back in time. (500) Days Of Summer is directed this time by MARC WEBB for Fox Searchlight Pictures. The plot of the story may be shallow or deep in a sense but I still hope this film will be shown in the big screen here in MANILA.

Check out this great Music Video Of "US" by REGINA SPEKTOR by clicking her photo:

Regina Spektor

This song is included in the movie trailer you just viewed. Great song and video too!!

DjDocT's Rick/U2 MashUp

Last year MAY 2008,I featured the VERY FIRST NEW WAVE MIXSET here on "The Doctor Is In" by my good friend and one of my original BLOG BUDDIES here in the Blogosphere, none other than DjDocT which received good feedbacks. Last DECEMBER 2008, I did a concept of a special NEW WAVE MASH-UP Project with him that was featured here again in my little blog which was also a great success and his VERY FIRST NEW WAVE MASH-UP too. Well, talking about MASH-UP, I have to say this KABAYAN of mine have great talent with this kind of music mixing and so when I heard this RICK ASTLEY/U2 MASHUP of "NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP/WITH OR WITHOUT YOU" on his VINYL 80s Blogsite,I was amazed on the blending of the songs. ANG GALING DjDocT!! Definitely, I have to make a special blogpost about it since it really caught my musical taste. YUP!! "The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way"again!! According to DjDocT, this MASH-UP was done already by a lot of MASH-UP Artists before so he doesn't belong to the MASH-UP WORLD if he don't have his own version of it. So we are now featuring it in my little blog. I grew up listening to this kind of music and this combination of two songs for me is a classic indeed. RICK ASTLEY came over here in MANILA last year to do a concert which was very successful and he sang all his GREATEST HITS. Btw, Roderick Paulate who is considered to be "The Rick Astley Of The Philippines" was also there to grace the occassion. Hmmmp!! KABAYAN,Do you remember the show "TONIGHT WITH DICK AND CARMI"? YUP!! That was the show he hosted together with sexy CARMI MARTIN. It was the first T.V. show that showcased DICK's Rick Astley Sound alike talent singing "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "Together Forever". He He He!! On the otherhand, U2's plan of an ASIA TOUR that included the PHILIPPINES unfortunately for us PINOYS didn't push thru. U2 Retiring? There are news of the band's retirement lately, but I guess when It's done then that's the time we have to believe it. Both"Never Gonna Give You Up" and "With Or Without You" had a WORLDWIDE CHART SUCCESS and were also really big here in the Philippines back in the 80s. You still hear these two songs being overplayed on RADIO RETRO SPECIALS here in MANILA.

Btw, before you listen to DjDocT's MASH-UP, I encourage you to listen and watch the two MUSIC VIDEOS of both "Never Gonna Give You Up" and "With Or Without You" first which I uploaded so that your ears would adjust to these two songs. Then after you have listened and watched it then you are ready for a musical treat for the MASH-UP of these two songs and be amaze of the magic of DjDocT. ENJOY THE MUZIC!!

HERE'S THE MUSIC VIDEOS:

Never Gonna Give You Up
-RICK ASTLEY

This song was released back in 1987 and topped the BRITISH CHARTS for five straight weeks and became the year's BEST SELLING SINGLE. It also became the BEST BRITISH SINGLE at the 1988 BRIT AWARDS. It was also a #1 hit in AUSTRALIA back in 1987. In 1988, this song topped the U.S. SINGLES CHART and BILLBOARD TOP100. A massive POP HIT too here in MANILA back on those days.

With Or Without You(LIVE!)- U2

This song was released as the first single of U2's highly acclaimed 1987 album entitled "JOSHUA TREE". It became U2's first AMERICAN #1 hit spending three weeks at the top of the CHARTS. The song also reached #2 on the Dutch Top 40 and #4 in the UK CHARTS. Another classic song for PINOY NEW WAVERS.

DEFINITELY TWO GREAT SONGS!!

Finally, Here's the MASH-UP!!

RAYMOND LAUCHENGCO Full Circle 80s

RAYMOND LAUCHENGCO is a PINOY singer/actor who was very famous back in the 80s and one of the original casts of the 80s PINOY ICONIC TEEN MOVIE entitled BAGETS. Recently, I had a little chit-chat with KABAYANS MON and SNOOG and this guy pops up on the discussion so here it goes I decided to feature his 80s REVIVAL ALBUM entitled "FULL CIRCLE: The Big Band Album" which was released by VIVA RECORDS last 2007. The first time I saw the CD and TRACKLIST it already caught my attention so I tried listening to it at the Record Bar's listening station and It was a very interesting album to listen to since it includes 10 great tunes from the 80s in a different blend wherein Raymond was singing with a rich orchestral backup and even became Jazzy at some time so I grabbed a copy of it for listening pleasure. Well, let's be different and cheezy for a while here on "The Doctor Is In" and travel back to time by listening to 80s and New Wave Revivals from none other done BAGETS original RAYMOND LAUCHENGCO who incidentally is also one of "The Greatest Hits of the 80s" foursome that included Randy Santiago, Louie Heredia, Gino Padilla who last year 2008 had a series of concert here in the Philippines and even in the U.S.(MEN OF THE 80s). Raymond was also a special guest on EAT BULAGA's last TRIBUTE to the LATE MASTER RAPPER FRANCIS MAGALLONA who was also one of the BAGETS casts back in the 80s. RAYMOND sang the song "FAREWELL" on the noontime variety show which is one of this famous and classic song up to this date.
The "FULL CIRCLE: The Big Band Album" is a total rework and definitely a time travel for you guys who grew up listening music from the 80s. Raymond gave credit to his wife Mia for the idea that inspired him to do this retro album which is a set of hit tunes from the 80s era and singing them big-band style. Well, It's cheezy in a way but why not try it to be different. I uploaded the entire album for you guys if you're interested. Check it out!!

But before you download the album I uploaded two songs for you to listen for this Blogpost:

RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME

Well, It's very ALARMING nowadays that here in the PHILIPPINES even though It's SUMMER TIME there are a lot of RAINS lately. The Bicol Region and even other parts of the provinces were even devasted with floods. Of course, MANILA would not be spared on these rains and floods. YUP!! It has been a month already and the climate here is very unpredictable in a way. Today could be HOT and Tomorrow would be RAINY!! Wheeew!! That's why a lot people are getting sick. Hmmmp!! That doesn't include the SWINE-FLU scare which is probably the recent world health threat. APRIL to early part of JUNE is usually the HOT WEATHER here in the PHILIPPINES but It's not anymore the case right now. I guess global warming is indeed taking the toll on our environment. PACMAN THUNDERSTORM is still very much around the country.

Of course my Blogpost Title is from one of my favorite songs from THE ALARM entitled "RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME". THE ALARM was first introduced here in MANILA by WXB102 back in 1986 by playing the XB classic and PINOY WAVERS favorite "ABSOLUTE REALITY". RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME was first played by NU107 back in 1988 and It is also one of the popular hits of the band here in MANILA. DZBM POWER105 made this song also a hit back on those days. RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME reached # 18 on the UK SINGLES CHART and #71 on the US BILLBOARD HOT100. I requested this song to DJ VALENTINE(former DJ RON SOUTH of LITEWAVE) on the current New Wave Program on 99.5RT entitled "NEW WAVE EXTRA" last April 25,2009 which he played. Of course, I also requested this song to buddy POGZ on NU107 New Wave Program "LISTEN ON: BALLAD OF THE TIMES" last April 29,2009. GEORGE FREDERICK, POGZ, CHARLIE, and MIKKI played it as the final song of that evening.

So since It's raining here in the Philippines this Summer I present you an ALARMING climate change in my country that depicts this great song...... RAIN IN THE SUMMERTIME by THE ALARM.

PACQUIAO-BOXING LEGEND

My country, the PHILIPPINES, is now rejoicing over the recent KNOCK OUT win of KABAYAN Emmanuel D. Pacquiao popularly known as MANNY "PACMAN" PACQUIAO over RICKY "THE HITMAN" HATTON. Definitely, this Front Page News of the Philippine Daily Inquirer which I bought says it all about MANNY!! Manny Pacquiao’s fists (PAMBANSANG KAMAO) made short work of Ricky Hatton last SUNDAY MAY,3 2009 (MANILA TIME) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena with just 359 seconds. Wheeew!! I just remember that famous line from a famous eyedrop commercial that goes like this "It Gets The Red Out In 60 seconds". Hmmmp!! I guess that's it!! PACMAN is now a BOXING LEGEND indeed and no doubt about it. The whole FILIPINO COMMUNITY around the globe celebrated this great triumphant moment and PACMAN have given us great pride to be a FILIPINO. I didn't even imagine Ricky Hatton would be out so early like most of us did. Well, we were all shock of what happened but It gave an exclamation point and cemented that MANNY is indeed the WORLD'S GREATEST POUND FOR POUND BOXER right now. Even though Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have announced his comeback from a brief retirement few hours before the PACQUIAO-HATTON FIGHT yet that does not outstage the furious success of PACMAN over the ring bringing down Hatton on ROUND 2 of the fight. I guess, what I can say about this is that the MAY WEATHER FORECAST for today here in the PHILIPPINES is PACMAN THUNDERSTORM with frequent cloudy skies. He He He!! Actually, It has been raining here in the Philippines recently even though It's summertime maybe due to climate change or global warming but this PACMAN THUNDERSTORM I'm talking about would definitely remain in every hearts of every FILIPINO around the world. PROUD TO BE PINOY!! There can be no doubt right now that MANNY PACQUIAO is BOXING'S UNDISPUTED KING as he continues to rampage everyone on the ring. He also made the SPORT OF BOXING exist and popular admist a lot of other competitions around like the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC (not to be mistaken to a Filipino BANANA CATSUP Brand okay). A boxing hero indeed!!

So what did really happen in the PACQUIAO-HATTON fight? Well, lets leave that to the real Sports Analysts and Experts on this thing. What is important right now for FILIPINOS at the moment is to celebrate this brilliant KNOCK OUT win of PACMAN over Hatton via a fierce straight left punch that HIT "THE HITMAN". It's also nice to see FILIPINO-AMERICAN Professional Wrestler DAVE BATISTA walking along with MANNY as he enters the ring. WOW!!AMAZING SUPPORT INDEED!! In the world of NEW WAVE MUSIC, PINOY WAVERS know that "MORRISSEY was the one WHO PUT THE M. IN MANCHESTER", I guess "The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way" of modifying this would be "MANNY PUT THE M. IN MANCHESTER" by beating Hatton. He He He!! Well, this time I didn't buy the RUSH DVD of the fight which was also made available few hours after the fight. PINOY STYLE?

There is this nice COMIC CARICATURE in the Philippine Daily Inquirer which I bought that I also wanna share to you which I find great. Hmmmp!! ANG GALING MGA KABAYAN DIBA? I went to mass that evening and during the PRIEST's HOMILY he told us that he visited this CONVENT run by NUNS/SISTERS and was amazed to know that these NUNS/SISTERS were really praying for PACMAN's success. WOW!! Talking about PRAYERS!! Being raised as a CATHOLIC and have studied on a CATHOLIC school I always believe that "PRAYER IS POWERFUL". I was touched seeing MANNY bending his knees praying before and after the fight. Wheeew!! That I may say was a great factor on his win. Running for President? Naaaaah!!

Here's also a great Inquirer Front Page photo that I wanna include here in my blogpost to make you smile for a while. YUP!! They were both laughing on the PRE-FIGHT conference and inside the venue was MANNY's dearest MOTHER "ALING DIONESIA". It's MOTHER'S DAY this coming MAY 10,2009 so to all Mothers "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY".

Btw, I also made a blogpost last DECEMBER regarding the PACQUIAO vs. DE LA HOYA Dream Match so If you haven't read it yet then just click the "DREAM MATCH" LOGO to enter my Blogpost:

I would like to CONGRATULATE KABAYAN MANNY PACQUIAO for this great PRIDE he gave for us FILIPINOS. PROUD TO BE PINOY!! So before I end my blogpost, I want you to listen and watch the latest MUSIC VIDEO/SONG of MANNY PACQUIAO which was composed and directed by LITO CAMO entitled "LAHING PINOY" which was also used as ENTRANCE song of MANNY on the fight. I love the lyrics of this song "VERY SIMPLE and VERY PINOY". Well, I hope you enjoyed another of my little tribute on the great Filipino boxer MANNY PACQUIAO. MABUHAY ANG PINOY!! As the lyrics would go: "PILIPINO...PILIPINO...PILIPINO...ANG LAHI KO!".

TRANSFORMERS(the sequel)

HERE'S THE OFFICIAL MOVIE TRAILER:

"THE TRANSFORMERS: The Movie" was an animated 1986 feature film based on the animated series of the same name which became a hit for my generation back in the 80s. I remember watching this on BETAMAX. This animated series was transformed into a film back in 2007 entitled "TRANSFORMERS" directed by MICHAEL BAY and was a huge sucess around the world. Now, "TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN" is coming up and I can't hardly wait to see it on the big screen. I made a blogpost on TRANSFORMERS (PINOY STYLE) before and if you haven't read it yet do check it out

CLICK the OPTIBUS PHOTO
to enter my TRANSFORMERS (PINOY STYLE) blogpost:

I was first introduced to THE TRANSFORMERS wayback 1984 when a classmate of mine brought these notebooks at school having the covers of these amazing robots. It was around 1985 when this "Cartoon" series was shown here in MANILA. TAKE NOTE I used the term "Cartoon" and not "Anime" since that's the term we usually use back on those days. Talking about age ah. Ha Ha Ha!! Definitely, I'm a great fan of the TRANSFORMERS!!

Here's the NEWS of the sequel:

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Some TRANSFORMERS sequel characters:

SOUNDWAVE

RAVAGE

Btw, do you know that there were some TRANSFORMERS characters which were rejected on the sequel? YUP!! These were indeed the FALLEN ROBOTS I may say!! A friend of mine gave me the photos of these REJECTED TRANSFORMERS and so I decided to include it here on my blogpost. These robots don't have names so yours truly "Dr. Stirring Rhod" gave them their own names so if you're gonna adapt them and take care of them be sure to notify me so that there would be no copyright infringement thing. Ha Ha Ha!! POOR ROBOTS!! So It's up to you to know why they were rejected for the movie. He he he!!

This is the way to end the blogpost!!
"The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way"!!

So guys let me present you!!

EARTH HOUR 2009 (Philippines)

Last MARCH 28,2009, the Philippines joined other countries in commemorating EARTH HOUR. Well, after work I went home early that evening to get some rest while joining the whole nation on this Earth Hour . It's one hour of turning off the lights from 8:30-9:30 pm. Earth Hour is a global effort encouraging people from all over the world to turn off electricity from 8:30 to 9:30 pm to raise awareness about the effects of climate change and global warming. The event here in MANILA started with the darkening of the Rizal Shrine and there was also a gathering at SM Mall Of Asia in Pasay City. I know people who went to MOA(Mall Of Asia) that evening and they told me that everybody was in high spirits. Some of them even brought this battery generated "LIGHT SABER" thing. There was a concert after the event. According to Yeb Sano, Philippine representative the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), more than 15 million Filipinos were estimated to have joined Earth Hour on that night and a total number of 647 cities and town participated in the event that made the Philippines rank #1 among all the countries that joined this said global event. Hmmmp!! Another of those united statement to really save PLANET EARTH. My country is home for a lot of diverse species and mainly Marine Biodiversity. The Philippines is one of the half dozen countries that share the Coral Triangle but more than 18% of the region's coral reefs were damaged or destroyed in a bleaching event linked to rising sea temperatures back in 1998-99, underlining the immense risks climate change poses to the environment, food security and the economies of coastal and island countries and communities. I guess It's about time to make some preventive measures regarding further devastation.

Earth Hour Philippines organizers are aligning the event with climate-friendly energy initiatives through the Switch Movement which is considered as the social mobilization platform of multi-sector energy stakeholders spawned by the 2008 Philippine Energy Summit. Lately, we have experienced here in MANILA some unexpected rain showers admist the hot weather of summer.Signs of climate change indeed KABAYAN. According to Francis Chua, chairman of the Green Army and head of Earth Hour Philippines marketing committee, there are already negotiations underway with potential Earth Hour national sponsors to jumpstart breakthrough energy practices and technologies from April 2009 to March next year. So I guess next year would be another record to break? Naaaah!! The important thing is the action okay.

Two days after the Earth Hour event I was able to go to SM MEGAMALL and I was surprised to see this EARTH HOUR Merchandises FOR SALE already. From T-SHIRTS, PINS, and what have you. Hmmmp!! PINOY Talaga!! There was even a TV screen that showcased some Filipino Actors/Actresses promoting Earth Hour. Talking about oppurtunities right? Well, as long as the funds would go to the proper projects to save Planet Earth It's safe to say that It's a good merchandise.

So how did EARTH HOUR began? EARTH HOUR was conceived by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and The Sydney Morning Herald back in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. It is a global event organized by WWF and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour following Sydney's lead and many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008 and was very succesful last MARCH 28, 2009 and definitely Philippines was one nation in this event.

In line with EARTH HOUR, I recently bought this DVD set of BBC's "PLANET EARTH" series which I find very informative and amazing due to the content of the video. Added education for us guys or just recall. It is considered as a follow up to the award winning "THE BLUE PLANET"series which I personally haven't watch yet. I decided to buy first this "PLANET EARTH" DVD series and as of the moment I'm still thinking if I will also buy "THE BLUE PLANET" DVD series too because it's a little big on the budget. He He He!! "PLANET EARTH" is a multi award-winning 2006 television series produced by the BBC Natural History Unit. It was considered as the the most expensive nature documentary series ever commissioned by the BBC, and also the first to be filmed in high definition that took four years to make. Wheeew!! The series was co-produced by the Discovery Channel and NHK in association with CBC, and was described by its makers as "the definitive look at the diversity of our planet".Definitely this "PLANET EARTH" BBC Series is a must for you guys so that you could reflect and go over and appreciate the only planet we live. This was narrated by DAVID ALLENBOROUGH and I promise you that It's a wonderful experience watching the series and you may just think otherwise why we should save planet earth for our next generation to nurture and enjoy. A lot of changes have already happened here on earth in the past centuries so let us not be the one to get extinct right smack on the carelessness that's happening around us. WOW VEEEERRRY DEEEP!! Seriously speaking , there are major threats for climate change and each of us here has an obligation to take actions on it. So everyone... Let us rediscover PLANET EARTH!!

I've included some VIDEOS/MUSIC to spice up my blogpost. Well, of course It's....."The Dr. Stirring Rhod Way"!!!

PLANET EARTH- Duran Duran

ELECTRICITY- O.M.D.

LIGHTS OUT- PETER WOLF

Hmmmp!! So how about a PINOY ALTERNATIVE ROCK tune KABAYAN? I chose this classic song from 90s PINOY ROCK DUO "YANO" entitled "KAKA". YANO was composed of Dong Abay on vocals and Eric Gancio on guitars and this "KAKA" song is very much related on the blogpost topic because of the chorus "Eh Kasi WALANG KURYENTE" in English "NO ELECTRICITY". When I first heard this song back in 1994 at LA ROCK 105.9 I really thought the title of the song was "Walang Kuryente" because the station played the demo just before YANO hit bigtime with their debut album. Btw, "YANO" in English means "simple", a term often used by Tagalog speakers in Quezon. VERY FUNNY song indeed about a person name "KAKA" and his misadventures during a BROWN OUT that led him in a lot of troubles. Hmmmp!! Talking about JINX? He He He!! KABAYAN, can someone translate the whole song in English? Huh? That reminds me of a BUGTONG(Philippine Riddle) that goes like this: "Nanjan na si KAKA, bumubuka bukaka".....remember the answer KABAYAN? Of course It's "GUNTING" in English "SCISSOR". I wonder what EDWARD SCISSORHANDS would say about this. Ha Ha Ha!! I uploaded "KAKA" for you to listen to.

KAKA- YANO

Let's end this EARTH HOUR BLOSPOST of mine with a Video of one of my favorite BMX BANDITS song which was an 89DMZ WAVE180 exclusive. It's a LOIUS ARMSTRONG ORIGINAL "What A Wonderful World".This song was also played on 103.5 KLITE's LITEWAVE back in 2004 by my request. He He He!! So everyone lets make EARTH a Wonderful World to live in. It's the only PLANET we got.

One....Two...Three... LET'S SING "WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD"!!

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD- BMX BANDITS

I hope you guys enjoyed my Special Blogpost about EARTH HOUR and PLANET EARTH. Let us help each other preserve our planet.
