TRANSFORMERS(Pinoy Style)

Well, last year I recieved an email having these photos of TRANSFORMERS. I know It's a bit late for this thing because some websites featured it already, nevertheless, it's worth the trip again to see this robots. He He He!! So what makes it different from the original TRANSFORMERS? Better check it out because this is the PINOY STYLE of TRANSFORMERS!! Enjoy!!
Let's start with their leader "OPTIBUS PRIME". KABAYAN, what do think? JAM TRANSIT or the PHILIPPINE RABBIT bus? Recently, there were lots of bad accidents involving these buses here in the Philippines. I guess, we need Optibus Prime to stop this wreckless drivers.

Of course, Optimus' opponent "MEGATREN" is included on the list. Hmmmp? KABAYAN, there goes our MRT and LRT. Wow!! I remember back in college we used TOKENS to enter and ride the LRT. Nowadays, we use the swipe card that has the photo of our president. Wonder why? He He He!

Who would forget PINOY's reliable transportation.....The Jeepney!! It's "BUMBLE JEEP" on the loose. So what do you think KABAYAN? Are they made by SARAO or AMANTE Motors? I may say they are The King Of The Road!! Would General Douglas Macarthur ride this kind of jeepneys? As PINOY would say "Para Lang Po Sa Tabi". Remember "Ang Katok Ay Para Sa Pinto, Ang Psssst!! Ay Para sa Aso, at Ang Para Ay Para Sa Tao". HmmmP!

The Pinoy Jeepneys are threaten by the AUVs and the most popular of them all are the TOYOTA TAMARAW FX. YUP!! So I present you "COLORUM" the FX version!! They were the new breed of TAXIs that were introduced here in MANILA in the early 90s. Right now there are a lot of AUVs already on the streets here in the Philippines. Personally, I find the FX much more comfortable because of the wide space inside the vehicle. Why colorum? Well up until now there are still a lot of illegal franchises.

We were just talking about taxi so here it goes the original Pinoy Taxi "BARRICAB". The Yellow Cab was very popular before here in the Philippines but right now the color of the taxi changed to white. Though, there are still some yellow cab roaming the streets. Oooops!! Not the Pizza thing okay. He He He!!

So let's go now to the barangay level. I present you "KAGAWADZZ" the vehicle for the barangay officials like the Kagawads, Chairmans, even the councilors. Of coure, if you talk about Congressman I guess they aren't included here and they don't ride this kind of vehicles. Ha Ha Ha!! You know what I mean KABAYAN? Like the NEW ORDER album "Power, Corruption. And Lies".
Breaker...breaker..... If we are talking about School Bus then here goes "SEMBREAKER". Let's bring the kids to school now okay. They should not be late!! Every student loves Semestral Break.

Another source of tranportation here in the Philippines is the reliable Tricycle. So I present you "MEGATRIKE" bringing our KABAYANS to those places that the jeepneys cannot reach on their route.

If you don't ride the Tricycle then PINOYS have the Pedicap so here goes "FRENZIKAD". I'm just touched with the Pedicab Drivers because they uses really their strength to pedal our commuters to where they would go. What if the passengers are heavy? Naaah!!
Hey guys!! Let's pause for a break and let's eat Dirty Ice Cream. What? YUP!! PINOYS call this sorbetes as Dirty Ice Cream and up to now I don't get it. Oooows!! Actually this Ice Cream are not dirty okay. Here I present you "STICECREAM" usually pushed by our favorite Mamang Sorbetero. Is there an Aling Sorbetero KABAYAN? Just asking guys. He He He!! Definitely, I scream for ice cream!! So what flavor? Ube, Cheese, Chocolate, Vanilla, or Mango? Acheche!!
Last on the list would be "BARICART". Well, you could see a fruit stand but most of them are the cart used by the ones who would buy and sell old newspaper and bottles. KABAYANS would know it as Dyaryo Bote.

I just presented you the creative work of PINOY, I hope you like my little presentation on each robots. I just hope with the current rollback of oil prices here in MANILA there would also be a fare rollback. THANK YOU VERY MUCH to those KABAYAN who created them. GALING!! SALAMAT ULIT!!

Where Have All The Wavers Gone?

A question of what has happened to PINOY WAVERS after almost three decades of NEW WAVE MUSIC. Btw, thanks to my friend and KABAYAN RUBBEET, one of the Moderators of NEW WAVE ZONE, for this streamer of a New Wave Party here in Manila that I'm using for my blogpost. Well, the title definitely puzzled me in a way so I decided to make a blogpost about it. It was wayback 1983 when I began liking this Musical Genre called NEW WAVE and then I started collecting Vinyl Records and cassette tapes of this kind of music back then. There weren't CDs that time here in MANILA so the old classic records and tapes were the ones that ruled every collection of PINOY WAVERS.

I started a Forum Thread at the NEW WAVE OUTPOST back in 2006 entitled "When did you start to like the NEW WAVE GENRE?". Click the NWO Logo to enter the thread:

It has been more than two decades already and recently I just thought of checking out on my friends, classmates, relatives, and KABAYANS who grew up listening to this musical genre and it seems that a lot of this people have lay low already. Well, of course due to many different priorities in life that have been with the changes of time. Last month, I was able to talk to a high school batchmate of mine and I was just shocked of the news that some of our batchmates have already passed away. Dead already!! That was sad news indeed. Some are due to accidents while others regarding health problems. These were the people who grew up listening and dancing to NEW WAVE. I also got to know a lot of KABAYANS of mine in the MULTIPLY WORLD who are already residing and working in different countries around the world and was really glad to know that a lot of them still collects NEW WAVE/PUNK stuffs like CDs, Vinyl Records, and some Cassette Tapes. Well, some of my close friends who are into collecting Vinyls before have really stopped their passion of collecting these stuffs. While some of them disregarded their Vinyls and started collecting CDs. I am just lucky I'm still collecting up to now all formats. He He He!!

An important year in MANILA's New Wave FM radio dial was 1987. I made a blogpost entitled "1987" last April so check it out by clicking the photo of an issue of LIFE MAGAZINE given to me by co-multiplier "Rocketcab".

I basically use my MULTIPLY Account to promote this BLOGSPOT.COM of mine and share my own personal inputs on the musical genre I grew up listening to. YUP!! My Multiply and Blogspot.com are related to each other. A preview on Multiply and the whole article here. He He He! My very own version of blogging I may say. I've been doing this ever since last year when I started "The Doctor Is In (The Home Of Dr. Stirring Rhod)" and it has been effective enough to reach out to everyone who also loves the music. I'm very thankful to everyone would have been visiting my blog because it encourages me to share more. Hmmmp!! DRAMATIC I MAY SAY!! He He He!! Blogging for me is fun and relaxation outside my working schedules and I see to it that this blog of mine is very unique and different from others. I still believe in originality all the way. My simple way of doing things outside the borders of life. A PINOY blog that showcase the New Wave,Punk, and Hardcore scene here in the PHILIPPINES. Of course, It's not entirely about music but some other things that would come up on my thoughts.

Last year and up to the present there were a lot of NEW WAVE PARTIES organized here in MANILA that have at least revived the scene and most of it would be a REUNION of sorts for PINOY WAVERS. Legendary Mobiles during the 80s are back spinning records again. Well, thanks to IGGY POGZ and the rest of the guys they have at least kept the fire burning.

Here are some POSTER ADS of the NEW WAVE PARTIES last year and up to now.
Courtesy of POGZ PAZ:

.

Hmmmp!! Do I hear a POWER105 REUNION guys? Okay yan because WXB102 had already a reunion party last April of this year. Pogz told me that he will retire organizing these NEW WAVE Parties if this DZBM Reunion thing happens. Ooooows!! I don't believe it. He He He!!

When I watched the "LOST 80s LIVE IN MANILA CONCERT" last April 19,2008 I realized that there were indeed a decline in interest on New Wave in a sense. ARANETA COLISEUM wasn't in full attendance even though there were three NEW WAVE bands who performed that night. Another New Wave band is visiting MANILA next week and this time It's GENE LOVES JEZEBEL. I wonder how would the crowd turn out be? Time flies so quickly and sometimes you won't even notice it. So "Where Have All The Wavers Gone?". I guess this ends up my blospost for today. Thank you very much for reading it.

DEAD SOULS

My "ALL SOULS DAY" Blogpost!!

Today is NOVEMBER 2, 2008 and for Pinoys it's "ALL SOULS DAY". Though, It's usually celebrated on NOVEMBER 1st which is "ALL SAINTS DAY" It is still the same for Filipinos either the 1st or the 2nd of November. The important thing is that Pinoys remember their departed love ones on these days by visiting the cemeteries. This blogpost of mine is inspired by this great Filipino Tradition that I'm proud of which is pass on generation to generation. Of course the blogpost title is from the classic JOY DIVISION song entitled "DEAD SOULS". So what now? I would just like to pay tribute to some departed artist on the music genre I really love. Well, there are too many to mention but I've just trimmed down the list because I just can't place all of them here in my blogpost.

IAN CURTIS (July 15, 1956-May 18, 1980)

Well, definitely first on the list is JOY DIVISION's legendary lead singer IAN CURTIS who was responsible for the song "DEAD SOULS". Pinoy Wavers and Punks would always remember him with the XB Classic "Love Will Tear Us Apart". Due to health and marital problems IAN decided to end his life by hanging himself in the kitchen. A life so gloomy and dark indeed and a controversial one. And would you believe guys that his tombstone was stolen last June this year. Huh? That's how IAN made an impact on the music industry and his life and works has recently made headlines.

TEDDY DIAZ (April 1, 1963 - August 21, 1988)

Next on my list would be TEDDY DIAZ, the legendary guitarist of THE DAWN. Pinoy Wavers, Punks, and Hardcores were really shocked on his untimely death 20 years ago because he was stabbed to death by two unknown bystanders who were definitely under the influence of drugs and alcohol just in front of his girlfriend's house. Up until now the case is unsolved. This was the time when THE DAWN was just peaking up in the PINOY ROCK scene. I'm sure he has a lot to offer for his fans but it was really sad that it has to end very early.

MICHAEL HUTCHENCE (January 22, 1960- November 22, 1997)

Suicide Blonde is an INXS hit and who would think of that MICHAEL HUTCHENCE, their lead singer, committed suicide. Though, reports said that there were lack of suicide note and any anecdotal evidence the theory of his death was by hanging himself because of a belt found on the scene on a hotel in Sydney. Autoerotic asphyxiation was believed to be the cause of his death because he was also found naked. INXS came over here in MANILA last AUGUST, 2006 to perform Live with a brand new singer but for me INXS without Michael would never be the same again. I may say his life was "Elegantly Wasted". Hmmmp!! Another INXS hit KABAYAN.

ADRIAN BORLAND (December 6, 1957–April 26, 1999)

I could still remember the classic line of the Legendary XB DJs back in 1986-87 "This is the sound of THE SOUND in TOTAL RECALL". YUP!! The LIVE VERSION of THE SOUND's "TOTAL RECALL" was an XB classic and a massive hit for Pinoy Wavers during those times. Who is the lead singer of the band? It's this mysterious guy name ADRIAN BORLAND. Huh? Another suicide case but this time it's much horrifying because Adrian committed suicide by throwing himself underneath a speeding train in England. This was the time when he was finishing his solo "Harmony And Destruction" album. Wow!! What a title for an album considering the circumtances that happened to him. He was stricken with illness that dates back 1987 and before his death there were already signs of severe depression and agitation. I guess he was just "COUNTING THE DAYS".

JOHN PEEL(August 30,1939–October 25, 2004)

It was 1987 when I first heard the term "PEEL SESSION" when WXB102 played the PEEL SESSION version of NEW ORDER's "Dreams Never End". After that, other so-called PEEL SESSIONS were played by XB and was continued by both BM and NU in 1988-1990. So what's this PEEL SESSION? Of course Pinoy Wavers weren't able to hear JOHN PEEL's BBC radio broadcasts back in the 80s and informatiom about him wasn't available that much. JOHN PEEL was BBC's Radio One DJ from 1967 to 2004 and has helped a lot of independent artist to shine and later be known in the music scene. He was well respected due to his kind of eclectic music taste and his warm and honest broadcasting style. He died due of heart attack during a working holiday in Peru. A good guy to be missed who has inspired a lot of people and has touched a lot of lives

.
DEATH in the RAMONES

The last occasion wherein the members of RAMONES were seen together was JULY 20, 1999 when Dee Dee, Joey, Johnny, Marky and Tommy appeared together at the Virgin Megastore in New York City for an autograph signing.

JOEY RAMONE (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001)

Two years after the New York autograph signing RAMONES frontman JOEY died of Lymphoma. A true Icon indeed!!

Then on 2002, Dee Dee, Joey, Johnny, Marky and Tommy Ramone were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

.
Dee Dee RAMONE (September 18, 1951-June 5, 2002)

Two months after the RAMONES induction the founding member and bassist Dee Dee RAMONE was found dead on his Hollywood, California apartment due to heroin overdose.

JOHNNY RAMONE(October 8, 1948 – September 15, 2004)

One of the intact RAMONES member, JOHNNY together with JOEY never really left the band. JOHNNY died in his home due to complications of prostate cancer. Eddie Vedder and Rob Zombie were at the side of this legendary RAMONES guitarist when he died.

JOE STRUMMER(August 21,1952 –December 22, 2002)

It was only few days before CHRISTMAS 2002 when this Punk Icon suddenly died of a heart problem. JOE STRUMMER died with an undiagnosed congenital heart defect. THE CLASH was in the plans for a reunion then JOE just left this world when everyone thought that he could still continue to share music like what he had been doing during his lifetime. A favorite among Pinoy Wavers and Punks!! This guy would be surely missed.

SID VICIOUS (May 10 1957–February 2,1979)

SEX PISTOLS bassist SID VICIOUS is one of those controversial figure in PUNK history. Coming off weaned of heroine, this punk icon just cannot let go of it. Celebrating his bail, SID VICIOUS obtained some doses of heroine during the party. According to experts his tolerance became lower and does inducing some terrible effects on his body taking in heroine again. Wow!! Another victim of heroine overdose. I guess he would have sung it "I did it MY WAY!"

ROBERT PALMER (January 19,1949–September 26,2003)

Pinoy Wavers would definitely remember ROBERT PALMER with his PEPSI Commercial which is "SIMPLY IRRESISTABLE". YUP!! All those gorgeous and sexy ladies beside him that looks very similar with each other and dance together with grace. And of course, the band THE POWER STATION since DURAN DURAN was really big here in MANILA so the split up of the band members JOHN and ANDY TAYLOR created chaos among Pinoy Duranees. I was also able to watch ROBERT PALMER LIVE IN MANLA back in 1989 and had great memories of this great musician. He died from heart attack in Paris France.

WOW!! Finally my blogpost is done!!! Wheew!! That was tough indeed. Hmmp!!

We only live our life once so we should live it to the fullest. Try to make each day special for you and everyone around you. I hope you guys like this special blogpost I made for "ALL SOULS DAY". A Filipino Tradition that is sure to last till the end of time. Like the title of a THE THE album.... It's "SOUL MINING" indeed!! PROUD TO BE PINOY!!

MAY THEY "REST IN PEACE"!!
